"I'm winning you back? Yeah, right. There's a much higher chance of being struck by lightning than him putting in the effort to win me back," you scoffed as you shook your head before sitting on your bed.

"I am winning you back." Another scoff escaped your lips as you splashed water on your face, washing them before getting ready for school.

"I am winning you back." you scoffed, spitting the tooth paste in the sink. You looked at yourself in the mirror and shook your head lightly,

"I am winning you back," you scoffed once again before you bit your toast. The aroma of your mother's cooking lingers your nose, but you can't appreciate the smell because of that five damn words that kept repeating in your head.

"Dear..." your father called to your mother, who was busy cooking in the kitchen. Without taking his eyes off you, he watched you with a mix of worry and fear on his face as you kept mumbling something like you are some sort of a character in a horror movie.

"Yes, dear?" she replied, grabbing the plate of freshly cooked fried rice and walking back to the dining area.

"Something's wrong with the spawn; get the holy water!"

"What are you say—" Your mother didn't finish her words when you suddenly stood up, causing her to halt in surprise.

"y/n, are you not going to eat more? You only had toast," she asked.

"No, I'm good. See you guys later!" you said almost in a daze before leaving the dining room. Your parents couldn't help but stare at each other, confused.

"I am winning you back," you mumbled as you put on your shoes before leaving the house. Still, the image of him doing things to win you back was a strange sight to imagine. Well, we're talking about Rindou Haitani here—the guy who cruelly rejected everyone (including you). The guy who didn't hold back from saying 'I hate stupid people' to you in front of half the freshmen students in the hallway.

"I'm winning you ba—ahhh, dammit! That beautiful face!!" you squealed, covering your mouth when you saw Rindou waiting for you outside your gate.

"Well, good morning to you too, y/n," the younger Haitani smirked, finding your reaction hilarious.

Your eyebrows furrowed. "Wha—what's so funny?"

"Nothing."

You pursed your lips and walked past him, trying your best to escape the embarrassment. Why do I have to blurt my thoughts out loud? Worse, in front of him! Ah! Stupid, stupid, y/n!

"Hey," he greeted you, peering into your field of vision. Surprised by his yet again sudden appearance, you flinched and quickly snapped your head to your right.

"Why are you here?"

"I'm just walking my way to school."

"Then walk, but far away from me."

"But I want to walk with you,"

"I want to walk with you—Psh!" you lightly scoffed, unable to believe what you are hearing right now. Him? Asking to walk with me? On his own will? Yeah, right. "Have you hit your head or something?"

"What will you do if I do hit my head?"

"Well, are you hu—" you paused, staring at his heavenly face. Why do the gods have favorites? Look at that lovely face; it's so pre— You snapped out of your deep thoughts and shook your head. "Look, I—I don't care about you anymore, so stop pestering me," you mumbled nervously and walked ahead of him. Not a second passed before you regretted what you just said. This was the first time you had said mean words to him, and it made you feel incredibly guilty.
