They say that a friendship can come all at once when you least expect it. It comes flowing in like a wave against the sand. Ever changing; because nothing is absolute, that is a giving fact to the world.

Everything changes, everything moves. As we evolve, the world evolves; day by day we watch as everything shifts around us.

For the two of them, they had fallen into a routine. Bokuto was always the one to wake up first, he would go to Akaashi's tent and wake him. The two would then have breakfast with the others before going to train. After training they would go off to a quiet side of camp and train.

Akaashi felt that the change between him and Bokuto was good; it felt nice. The more time Akaashi spent with Bokuto, the more he grew fond of the man. In fact, he would go as far as saying they had become somewhat of best friends now.

Sometimes Kuroo would join them, along with a new recruit called Lev. Lev was entertaining. He would go on and on about becoming the best and surpassing his superiors, though compared to his lack of skills that seemed near impossible.

It was nightfall, and they decided to get some extra training in before curfew. Lev, not surprisingly, was lying face-palmed on the ground with his arms and legs sprawled out.

'Lev get up and stop lazing around!' Kuroo exclaimed.

Lev just groaned in response.

Bokuto came over to where Akaashi was sitting and sat beside him.

'He thinks he can become one of the best while lazing around like that?' the grey-haired man said, leaning back on his hands.

Akaashi hummed, 'He is determined, I'll give him that.'

'A quality to admire in a soldier.'

'Maybe he wants to be like the Hero of Fukurodani,' Akaashi pointed out. He turned to Bokuto, who was looking at him with raised eyebrows, 'I mean he inspires a lot of people right?'

Bokuto shrugged, 'I suppose so,' he paused, a beat of silence before he spoke up again, 'Hey Akaashi there is something I--'

'Hey skinny!' Kuroo's voice cut him off, seeming to be calling out to someone.

A young man with blonde hair turned around.

'Would you mind blocking some of our attacks?' he asked him.

Bokuto jumped up, running to Kuroo's side.

The blonde man didn't look interested, more so irritated than anything else. 'Why? Can't you get someone else?'

Akaashi followed them, 'There's no limit to Bokuto's sparing practice, everyone runs away quickly or ends up like him,' he pointed to Lev.

'Besides,' Kuroo smirked, 'I've seen you fight; you could use some more practice with your defence.'

Around an hour had passed, and Tsukishima—the blonde man—was not winning against Bokuto no matter how hard he tried.

Bokuto crossed his arms, standing over Tsukishima, 'You are good at reading attacks, but your blocks are pretty weak. Your arms are so frail that I'm scared I'm gonna break them.'

'I've just started gaining muscle and growing taller!'

Kuroo chuckled, 'Talk like that, and that little shrimp I've been hearing so much about might hog all the glory.'

Tsukishima turned to them, rubbing the back of his neck with a smile, 'I don't think that can be helped. So, if you'll excuse me,' he turned and began walking away. Despite Kuroo calling out to him, he continued walking.

Bokuto placed a hand on Kuroo's shoulder, 'Ha! You pissed him off.'

'Oh, shut up! We should head to bed.'

Bokuto grabbed Akaashi by the hand, 'Come on I can walk you back to your tent.'

'Hey, what about--' Bokuto didn't even let Kuroo finish his sentence as he walked off with Akaashi.

Akaashi matched Bokuto's pace as they slowed down, 'We left Kuroo behind.'

Bokuto waved his hand, 'He's a grown man he can handle himself. Besides there was something I wanted to talk to you about.'

'Oh?'

'I'm leaving camp soon,' his gaze was fixed on the ground as he walked, kicking rocks. Akaashi thought that he was avoiding his gaze, maybe .

'Why are you leaving? Training camp isn't over yet.'

Bokuto sighed, looking over to Akaashi at last, 'I know. It's only me that's leaving though...' he paused, thinking about what to say, 'Akaashi, the Hero of Fukurodani, would you believe me if I said--'

'That it's you?'

Bokuto's eyes widened in shock, 'wait, you knew?'

'It wasn't that hard to figure out, to be honest, you are an easy person to read Bokuto. Plus, Atsumu gave it away when we first met.'

'That piss hair bastard!' he mumbled, 'I don't want to go, not yet at least. I would rather wait until everyone else is going so we can go together.'

Life has its way of changing things when you least expect it; without warning, with no signals. You cannot prepare yourself for it. Akaashi had guessed, that at some point Bokuto would have to leave before the rest of them to prepare for war; he was their hero, and it was his duty.

'When do you leave?'

'Two days from now.'

'Then let's have one last training, tomorrow night before you leave. Then when we meet again, we can see how much you've improved.'

Bokuto smiled widely, 'Deal. We should try and get Tsukki back, I like him.'

'I'm pretty sure he's fallen out with Kuroo, I doubt he'd want to train with us again.'

'You never know Akaashi.'

Akaashi wanted to ask him about his life; about how he became the Hero of Fukurodani. He had heard many different tales, each different from the other. But to hear it from Bokuto, he would know the true story.

'Bokuto, is it true that you're a demi-god?'

He laughed, 'You've heard about that huh?' he looked towards him with a smirk, 'My mother is a goddess; a minor goddess. I guess that side helps me with my strength and stuff.'

'Do you see your mother much?'

'Yeah, she would visit sometimes. She wants me to become a hero, she's the reason I'm doing all this.'

Akaashi nodded in understanding, 'So it's your mother that you're fighting for?'

'Yeah, I suppose I am.'

The next night, Bokuto was right, Tsukishima did come back.

Bokuto turned his attention away from the group, as he spotted someone watching them from behind a tree.

'Oh? Tsukki, did you bring a friend today?'

'Pardon?'

When the red-haired man realised he was spotted he froze, realising everyone was watching him. He then walked out from his hiding spot and cleared his throat, 'Kageyama said he wants to practice on his own. And I was trying to get Kenma to help but he ran away 15 minutes in.'

Kuroo laughed, 'I'm surprised he even lasted that long.'

'So please... let me practice with you!'

Bokuto stepped forward, hands on his hips, 'You're Hinata right?'

'Yes...'

'Well, let's see what you've got short stuff!'
