Raindrops played a morning melody as the wind danced with the leaves, each note matched by a fluttering movement. Raphael's fingers glided over the piano keys, the music weaving through the room until Leon's voice cut through the harmony, excitedly ."Aren't you coming down? The Solaris band is coming today. They want to know if we're joining them or not... We need to talk about it, especially with Ethan. It's been almost four days..."
Raphael's gaze shifted to Leon, his expression unreadable. "I talked to Ethan already, last night... after you went to sleep."
Leon leaned forward, his voice hushed but urgent. "Well, what did he say? Will he agree to Nathaniel's request?"
Raphael stood, the music fading as he moved toward the door. "Let's go and talk to the others; it will be better."
Leon nodded, and with that they descended the stairs to where Ethan and the others sat. A hush fell over the room as the sound of approaching footsteps grew louder. The light caught on his shiny black hair and sparkling blue eyes, and with each step, his tattoos became more visible
Raphael's blue eyes lit up, and a smile spread across his face. "Sebastian! Good morning. Now that you're here, our group is complete. We can start talking."
Leon's mind raced, his thoughts tangled with the weight of the conversation ahead. Raphael fiddled with his rings, each one a talisman of personal significance. Ethan sat among them, physically present but his sole is distant, lost in memories that clung to him like shadows.
Silence stretched, thick and heavy, until Sebastian broke it, his voice cutting through the tension. "Well then, since everyone is silent, I'll talk." His gaze locked onto Ethan, pulling him from his reverie.
"I won't take long, so... Ethan," he continued, his tone direct, "Will you accept Nathaniel's request or not?"
A faint smile curved Ethan's lips as he glanced at Raphael, then back at Sebastian. "Let's say I agreed, which is impossible. What would happen? What would we gain? Let me break it down for you. We all know Solaris is a big band now. So what does Nathaniel want with a band like ours, still finding its footing?" His voice grew firmer, daring anyone to interrupt. "I know many of you, including Leon, have questions. How did I decide this? Who do I think I am? Aren't we good enough? I'll answer with three points. First, when I stopped playing, I haven't touched that violin since. Second, I can judge people, and Nathaniel's intentions are not good. He's cunning and manipulative. I don't know his goal yet, but I will find out, and I promise you that. Third, combining the first and second reasons, you made me responsible for the band to keep me as a member. So now, as your leader, I ask you to end this discussion today. We'll find someone better than Nathaniel, and our music will resonate everywhere, timelessly. That's all I have to say."Ethan turned to leave, anticipating the storm he had unleashed. As he walked away, some faces showed signs of agreement, while others were etched with anger.
