I awoke later that night to a feeling of emptiness, and I wasn't sure what I was missing until I realized I was alone in Elias's bed.
I rolled over, breathing softly as I searched the room again, but then I looked to the side of the bed...
And I saw him sitting on a stool, watching me again.
I stared at him for a long moment before I smiled. "Again, with this?"
"I went to get a snack... and I didn't want to disturb you," he said, eyes glowing in the darkness.
"Ah, yes," I replied, letting out a long, extended yawn, "the famous blood popsicle."
"I didn't want to go anywhere else," he told me then, making me watch him. "And your expression's so peaceful... I can't help myself."
"You lack impulse control, I know." I smiled.
He just shook his head. "I have more impulse control than you, Miss 'I HAVE kill someone today'."
"I wanna kill someone every day," I replied.
"And?" he arched a brow. "That also contributes to my point."
"But you just said you couldn't help yourself," I told him. "Lack of impulse control."
He then leaned forward, making my lips part. "I prioritize my impulses, Sweetheart. There's a difference."
"Like what?" I demanded.
"Like how last night I could've just shoved you down and fucked you, but I didn't because I knew you were shy. And you don't know me well enough yet."
I watched him now, getting lost in his eyes again. "But I said I wanted you."
"And I said you had to wait."
"Why?" I wondered. "I'm ready. I've never done this before, but... I know some things."
"Because I want you to be at your limit before I succumb to you," he replied, smirking. "My little succubus."
"At my limit?" I echoed.
He just tipped his head to the side. "Edged to the limit. I want you to want me so bad you think you're going to die."
My heart pounded hard against my rib cage. "Oh."
He just smirked. "Yes, I'm twisted, too, Angel. And don't forget that."
I shuffled over to him. "When will that be?"
He kept his position. "You'll never know. It's called the element of surprise, princess."
I tipped my head to the side. "I don't want to wait."
"You're going to have to wait."
"But I want you."
"I know."
I just sighed and gazed down at the bed. "This isn't fun."
He just moved off the stool and sat on the bed next to me. "Angel... it'll be your first time. It'll hurt, okay? I don't want you to hurt."
"But I... but I'm ready."
"No," he said, brushing my hair away from my face, "you're not. I'm going to get you ready first. It'll take time."
"It's just blood..." I murmured.
"And pain," he added, "pain I don't want to cause you."
I gazed up at him then, eyes glistening in the moonlight. "Elias... am I a burden to you?"
"If anything, I'm the burden," he chuckled, continuing to brush my hair away from my face, "you're an angel."
I watched him curiously. "Why can't you just do it?"
"I have to ready you first," he replied.
"How?"
"By stretching you slowly, not breaking into you."
My brows drew together. "You can wait for that?"
He smiled. "I have patience."
I gazed down at the floor then, sighing. "Okay."
"You're mad," he noticed.
"I'm... I'm just... I don't know."
He smirked then. "Will cuddles make you feel better?"
I looked up then, eyes sparkling.
He chuckled, lying down on the bed and guiding me back onto him; like we did every night. "Alright, you need to sleep, anyway. Go to sleep, okay?"
I buried my face in his neck. "Okay."
