Chapter 5: Determined To Win

Rin's POV

When everybody arrived, Midnight announced that the first 42 students would be making it to the next round.

The Cavalry Battle, that is.

We had to create teams of 2-4 players with one of the members being lifted up by the others. To win, we have to snatch headbands from other teams and gather up as many as we can to reach the final round. If you go out of bounds, your team loses.

We were all given starting points based on our placement in the race. Since me and Uraraka-san tied, we each got 50,000 points. (A/N: I made it up :p)

But the real shocker was when it was announced that Midoriya-kun had 10,000,000 points. Instantly, the whole house eyed with murderous glares and some were even letting off a little bloodlust.

'This is gonna make him a walking target'

"You have 15 minutes to form your teams. Gird your loins and good luck" Midnight announced.

'So where to look'

I saw Uraraka-san already close to Midoriya-kun, discussing something very important.

'It looks like she's found a team'

Both of them shot their heads my way and approached me, looking eager and hopeful to tell me something.

"Shizuoka, are you interested in joining our team?" Midoriya-kun asked me. I was in a daze trying to think this through.

'Joining their team would be nice, but he has 10,000,000 points which mean he's basically a walking target. Plus that could also jeopardize the 50,000 points both me and Uraraka-san have, and-- OH MY GOD THIS IS TOO MUCH!'

It was decided. I already made up my mind as I gulped the huge amount of saliva in the back of my throat.

"I'm sorry, but no" I bluntly responded.

"What? Why?" Uraraka-san questioned me.

"Let's face it. Midoriya-kun, with that 10 million points you're basically a target for all the other teams. I don't wanna risk my 50,000 points along with Uraraka-san's. Because of that, I think it's best that we're on separate teams. I also want to make it to the next round. You're not the only one who wants to be the best, you know" I explained.

'Maybe a bit too harsh🙁'

I was ready to apologize if I had upset them but from the looks on their faces, I'm guessing they took it very well.

"We understand" Midoriya-kun stated.

"Mhm" Uraraka-san added.

"Well... I'm gonna go make my team now. I'll see you guys in the next round. That is if we all make it" I waved at them as I ran to the crowd of heroes in-training like me to find any potential teammates.

Team, team, team.

'Ugh! Everyone almost has a team. I'm running out of people who I know off!'

And I sure as hell don't wanna form a team with Pomeranian.

My thoughts were interrupted when I bumped into someone and fell down.

"Ouch!" I rubbed my head. "Watch where you're going!"

"Sorry. Didn't see you there because of how tiny you are"

'That voice'

'It can't be'

I tilted my head up to confirm the owner of the voice. It was him. The purple haired dude who threatened our class two weeks earlier.
