-Max Pov-

Max stared at the framed photo on his desk, a snapshot from the X Games showing him and his friends celebrating their victory. His eyes, however, were drawn to the background, where Bradley  stood apart, a look of...sadness and disdain on his face. Max sighed, memories of their intense rivalry flooding back.

It had been a few years since the X Games. Max had hoped that college would be a fresh start, a chance to leave the past behind. But he couldn't shake the feeling of unfinished business with Bradley. Their last encounter had ended in bitterness, and it gnawed at him.

One evening, Max received an unexpected message on Instagram. It was from Bradley:

"Need to talk. Meet me at the old skate park. Tomorrow at 8 PM."

Max was surprised, his heart pounded. He debated ignoring the message, but something compelled him to go. Maybe it was the hope of closure or understanding.

The next night, Max arrived at the skate park. The place was deserted, dimly lit by the flickering streetlights. Bradley was already there, sitting on a bench, his head bowed.Max approached cautiously.

"Bradley?"

Bradley looked up, his face a mix of anger and sorrow.

"Hey, Goof."

Max sat down beside him, the silence between them heavy. Finally, Bradley spoke, his voice tight with emotion. "I've been thinking a lot about the X Games and everything that happened. I... I wanted to apologize."

Max was taken aback. "Apologize? For what?"

"For being such a jerk," Bradley admitted. "I was so obsessed with winning that I lost sight of everything else. I hurt a lot of people, including you."

Max nodded slowly.

"Yeah, you did. But I wasn't perfect either. I let my anger get the best of me."

Bradley sighed. "It's more than that, Max. After the X Games, I felt... lost. My whole identity was tied to being the best, and when I lost, I didn't know who I was anymore."

Max felt a pang of sympathy. He had never considered how deeply the rivalry might have affected Bradley.

"So, why reach out now?"

"Because Ive lost everything Max.My friends,my popularity, hell even my grades are declining because of this guilt that eats at me about what i did" Bradley confessed with a sad expression.

"I need to make things right, or at least try."

Max looked at him, seeing the vulnerability behind Bradley's tough exterior.

"It's not going to be easy. We've both got a lot of baggage."

"I know," Bradley said quietly. "But maybe we can start by understanding each other."

For the next hour, they talked, sharing stories and secrets they had never discussed before. Bradley revealed the pressure he felt from his family to always be the best, while Max spoke about his own struggles with self-doubt and the need to prove himself.

By the end of the night, the tension between them had eased slightly. They weren't friends, but they had reached a fragile truce, built on honesty and mutual respect,And that was enough for Max

It had gotten late, 12:56Am before Max and Bradley had decided to call it a night. They said their goodbyes and parted ways.As Max walked home, he realized that healing old wounds would take time. But for the first time in a while, he felt a glimmer of hope. Maybe, just maybe, they could find a way to move forward, leaving the pain of the past behind. And who knows? Maybe they'd make new friends along the way.
