addiction is a cruel mistress
twisting the person i loved
into someone i don't recognize
and i still keep believing in all
of the never ending "i'll quit"s
while i let you wither me away
with your harsh tongue
and your harsher actions
because maybe you'll come back
someday when your addiction fades
or when it's fueled again all over
and the person i love could return
-slim possibilities
