✎ An Shiraishi hummed softly to herself as she wiped down the counter of her dad's cafe, Weekend Garage, as Akito, her boyfriend, peacefully sipped his drink in front of her.
it was a sunny Saturday afternoon, so the place wasn't overly packed like it was in the mornings. every few minutes, a regular would come in, order a quick drink, and then leave, but that's about it. that gave Akito more time with his girlfriend, though.
"you need any help cleaning?" Akito asked, glancing down at An scrubbing the dirty counter with a small rag, before moving onto the booths and thoroughly wiping those too.
"nah, it's no biggie!! helping out at the cafe was a piece of cake today!" An exclaimed with a smile on her face, walking back behind the counter to squeeze out the wet rag in the sink.
"alright.... I was just asking for Ken's sake, by the way," Akito insisted, distractingly twirling his spoon around in his now empty cup.
"uh-huh... sureee...~" An hummed teasingly, though she found Akito's defensiveness kind of adorable, despite how hard he tried not to be seen in such a way. if she'd told Akito that, he'd probably kill her.
as An giggled to herself, the door chimed, and she looked up to see Tono Arata, one of the people working with Vivid Bad Squad to surpass the legendary RAD WEEKEND, and another regular at the cafe. he walked up to the counter where the couple was, and the female greeted him warmly. "hey, Tono! the usual?" An asked.
meanwhile, Akito just stared.
"of course," Tono replied with a grin. "you know me too well."
Akito felt a pang of jealousy twist in his chest when he saw An and Tono getting along so well, yet he didn't know why. An naturally treated everyone who came into the cafe as if they were her family... but this felt different. was it because Tono Arata was a conventionally attractive guy just around Akito's own age? actually, why was he even feeling this way at all!?
"oh! hello, Shinonome," Tono said, just then realizing Akito was in the seat beside him. was the guy that invested in a conversation with Akito's girlfriend that he didn't even notice his surroundings? or maybe he was just overthinking all this...
"wassup, Arata," Akito replied, giving him a fist bump. he didn't have anything against Tono, it was just.... who knows. Akito's self esteem wasn't the best at times, especially when it came to An Shiraishi. she could probably do better than him, couldn't she?
Akito tried to shake off the unsettling feeling gnawing at him as An prepared Tono's order. he knew he shouldn't be jealous, especially not over something as trivial as a friendly conversation.... plus, he was the one in a relationship with An, not Tono, although, that didn't put his heart at ease.
"so, how's the music going, Tono?" An began with a conversation starter, handing Tono his drink.
Tono took the drink with a nod of thanks, smiling his usual smile. "it's been going great, Shiraishi. we've been working on some new tracks that I think will really impress people at our next gig. I'm actually pretty excited about it," he stated, taking a sip from his drink.
"that sounds awesome!" An replied, her eyes sparkling with genuine interest. "I can't wait to hear them."
why was An smiling at Arata like that? why couldn't it be Akito she was admiring right now? he wanted to smash something with his bare hands right now. guess his anger issues haven't gotten any better even since he started dating An.
"God.... I'm so fucked up..." Akito grumbled under his breath, running his hand through his hair as he leaned over the table like a drunk person at the bar.
