But the absence of light.

But a thing.
You can't know what the word dark means
Until it stares you in the face,
Until you are surrounded,
By nothing,
Completely alone.
Struggling to find light.
Giving up hope.
There is no going back.
You can not escape.
Dark is not just a word,
It is an emotion.
When you feel hopeless,
And terrified.
When you feel a ball inside of you,
That seems to consume all happiness.
And you can't even feel sadness,
You just feel nothing.
That is the true definition of dark.
