Ailana should've known better, she admitted. She should've known that things couldn't be as simple as straight-up admitting ones faults. Which is what she advised Alexis to do when he first came to her with his problem.
But nope. Instead, he and the other princes found the jacket in the possession of another student named Richie. And what did they do with this newfound discovery?
They coarch the guy into selling the jacket to them. This Richie guy was obviously displeased, and in retaliation, he filed a complaint against the Student Council. Specifically Alexis, Ciel, and Albert.
Since the supposed perpetrator in this case was the Student Council President himself, the reigns over the investigation was given to the Student Council Vice-President, Prince Gion.
And the ones assisting him were, of course, Shintarou and Livio. Though surprisingly enough, Ailana herself was included to help the investigation by Gion.
While Shintarou and Livio were busy 'apprehending' the suspects, Ailana stood beside Gion and went to work on her tablet in hopes of finding a way to resolve the situation.
While Albert and Ciel resisted, even going as far as to question Gion's authority in the investigation, that's when Principal Evan and Vice-Principal Godfreg stepped in.
"Sir, let me handle this." Said Gion, to which Evan responded by nodding.
"Ciel, Albert. Did you two fight with a student named Richie at Moas Western Restaurant yesterday? And then, stole his jacket?" The prince of Italy questioned the two.
"We didn't steal his jacket! The jacket isn't even his!"
"We took the jacket back and even paid for it. Does that count as stealing?"
While things were getting heated, Ailana retreated to the back to make a call with the store manager where the jacket was sold. Since the jacket was incredibly limited edition, the buyers, to her knowledge, would have to give some of their information to the store.
It took three dials before the store manager finally picked up the phone. Thankfully, everything else was smooth sailing from there, and she was able to get the information needed emailed to her.
While she was annoyed with Alexis and the princes for escalating things this far, Ailana sincerely hoped that the situation could finally be resolved now that she had what they needed.
"Due to the scarcity of some limited edition luxury goods, customers are sometimes required to give some details to sellers. We'll know who the true owner is after linking them with the serial number on the jacket." Ailana explained as she stepped back into the scene.
"Tch! Why are you being a busy body? It's obvious this jacket is mine, so why go through so much trouble? Prince Gion said he'll handle it, so why don't you just scram." Richie challenged in annoyance and nervousness. It was almost as if he knew that if they were to link the serial number on the jacket, then it would be over for him.
It was one thing for him to stand up to the princes. But Ailana was just a girl, and, as far as he knew, a commoner with no influential family to back her up and posed no threat if he messed with her.
All of a sudden, his view of the girl was obscured when Gion stepped in front of her and coldly glared him down.
"Watch what you say. Ailana is a capable member of the Student Council and is involved in conducting this investigation under my orders as well. She's not someone the likes of you can question or disrespect." Gion stated.
That finally made Richie shut up and went to cower behind the vice principal. Though, that was another mistake on his part when he felt a shiver run up his spine. Then, he glanced up and met Godfreg's eyes. The man may have been smiling, but his eyes that were staring down at the boy were downright menacing.
