it was late at night and childe finally returned from his daily duties. "ugh.. this is frustrating.." childe grumbled as he walks to the fridge and grabbing a can of beer.

".. right.. keeping that vampire fed." he muttered, looking at the now empty bag  of fresh blood. "tsk.. i forgot to refill it.." he added with a groan.

he sipped on the beer and made his way to the room he had locked scaramouche in. unlocking and opening the door, he entered, closing it behind him.

"later than usual. busy night?" scaramouche said and notice the can of beer in childe's hands. "hm? what's this? are you planning to get drunk while i'm here?"

"well, if you were to do something, you'd be back from square one. into the cage once again." childe replied, taking another sip of his beer.

scaramouche huffed and crossed his arms, furrowing his brows. "whatever.." he said, sitting on the bed.

It was late at night when Childe finally returned from his daily duties, his frustration evident in the way he moved. "Ugh... this is frustrating," he grumbled as he walked to the fridge, grabbing a can of beer.

"Right... keeping that vampire fed," he muttered, looking at the now-empty bag of fresh blood. "Tsk... I forgot to refill it," he added with a groan.

He sipped on the beer and made his way to the room where he had locked Scaramouche in. Unlocking and opening the door, he entered, closing it behind him.

"Later than usual. Busy night?" Scaramouche remarked, noticing the can of beer in Childe's hand. "Hm? What's this? Are you planning to get drunk while I'm here?"

Childe took another sip of his beer, a weary smirk playing on his lips. "Well, if you were to do something, you'd be back at square one. Into the cage once again."

Scaramouche huffed, crossing his arms and furrowing his brows. "Whatever..." he muttered, sitting on the bed, clearly annoyed.

Childe took a seat in the chair by the door, his eyes lingering on Scaramouche for a moment before he spoke. "I had a rough night, hunting down another rogue vampire. It's exhausting work, you know."

Scaramouche glanced at him, his expression softening slightly. "You're the one who chose this life, hunter. No one forced you into it."

Childe sighed, rubbing his temples. "I know. But sometimes, it feels like an endless cycle. Hunt, capture, interrogate... and for what? To stop more deaths? To find some semblance of peace?"

Scaramouche's gaze softened further, a rare moment of empathy crossing his features. "Peace is a fleeting illusion, Childe. Especially between our kinds."

Childe looked at him, his eyes tired but determined. "Maybe. But I have to try. I have to believe there's a way to end this."

Scaramouche shook his head, a faint smile on his lips. "You're a fool, but I suppose even fools can have their moments."

Childe chuckled, raising his beer in a mock toast. "I'll take that as a compliment."

The room fell into a more comfortable silence, the tension between them easing slightly. Despite their differences and the circumstances that bound them together, there was a strange, unspoken understanding forming between them.

After a while, Childe broke the silence. "I forgot to refill your blood supply. I'll have to go out again in the morning. But for now, you'll have to make do."
