Chapter 6

When the trio reached a gas station to buy bandages and anything else they might need, Natasha and Yelena fell into a chat about the Red Room.

"I'm finding it hard to believe that he could stay off my radar," Natasha said about Drekykov. He could have found her at any time in this universe too, but he never did.

"Well, it's not smart to attack an Avenger if you want to stay hidden," Yelena said. "I mean, the clue is in the name. Dreykov kills you, the Hulk comes to avenge you. I doubt he has to an ibuprofen after a fight... Where did you think I was all this time?"

Natasha looked at the floor then back at Yelena before saying, "I thought you got out and were living a normal life."

It wasn't a total lie; she did think that once.

"Bull. You just didn't want your baby sister to tag along, whist you saved the world with the cool kids. Why do you always do that thing?"

Natasha multitasked, paying attention to the cashier and Yelena. Bruce walked up to them with everything he needed and nodded, signaling he'd pay.

"What thing," Natasha asked, giving Yelena her full attention.

"The thing you do when you're fighting. The... Like the..." Yelena mocked her pose and started whipping her head back and forth as she said, "This thing that you do when you whip your hair when you're fighting with the arm and the hair. And you do like a fighting pose. It's a... it's a fighting pose. You're a total poser."

"I'm not a poser."

Natasha heard Bruce smirk as he was paying for their stuff, while Yelena laughed.

"Ah, come on, I mean they're great poses, but it does look like you think everyone's looking at you, like, all the time."

"You do pose a lot," Bruce teased while smiling.

"Whose side are you on," Natasha teased back.

"Yours. Always."

Natasha couldn't keep the smile off her face as she pulled him closer to her, pecking his lips.

"Gross," Yelena said, clearly not amused.

Natasha smirked at her boyfriend's blush as he ducked his head, then forced herself to remain composed as he looked back up at her with that adoring gaze. For just a few seconds Natasha let herself feel safe.

The moment was broken by Yelena telling them, "Get a room."
