Time to shine

I woke up the next morning to the birds chirping at the crack of dawn, the room looked nice in the morning light however i thought i should try to decorate a little, not anything fancy, just maybe some bunting, a poster, lights. I decided to get to it right away. I weakly crawled over Pete, still in my clothes from yesterday and put on my socks, to do so.

I decided to make some sort of bunting first for the wall, I decided to colour some paper i had brought pink and green and then cut it into shapes. Fairy lights,i thought, for the other wall.

As i was sat on the floor making it, Pete woke up

"good morning" I said as he crawled out of bed like a goblin.

"Morning" he replied."Oh God" he said, "It's the day of auditions"

i turned to him and he was frozen in the middle of the room. He suddenly leapt to his bag like a madman and pulled out the script that he printed online from the front pocket. As he went over lines i could tell he was getting really nervous.

"Oh God," he said looking at me  as i looked at him, "What if I don't get it?"

"Hey" i said standing up, walking over to him and kneeling infront of him as he was sat, "Listen, we'll always have eachother, okay, and no matter what happens we'll never leave eachother. You'll be great and exciting and surprise everyone, even yourself."

He smiled softly at me and no words were needed, we leant our heads against eachother's, and breathed slowly in calm reassurance of safety.

"How's your burn by the way, are you still in pain?"said Pete, suddenly concerned of my condition.

"Oh w-well..." I suddenly stuttered nervous, my trauma interfering with my reaction.

"Hey" Pete said softly, holding my shoulders in his way, "Go on, it's fine, do you need any ointment for it."

"M-maybe" i whispered looking into his eyes. "Maybe a little."

"Alright, well once I finish the audition we can go buy some. Or is it urgent?" He asked.

"No, I can wait, it's not infected or anything."

Pete nodded at my answer, his concerned expression falling as his shoulders dropped.

"Right," he said.

"Oh yes we should get going,"I repeated.

we both put on the best clothes we bought, his being a pair of blue jeans and a woolen jumper and mine being a green turtleneck (To cover a bruise going across my throat from where...something happened) and a black pair of genes as well as one of Pete's fleeces.

We then headed to the bus stop. We had time to spare as we didn't know exactly how long it would take to get there with traffic.

On the bus I began helping Pete with his lines, "Alright" I said, acting with a happy tone "How about we stay clear of all those...creatures."

"What the vamp-" Pete played on as I interrupted.

"Yes yes those...mangy beasts." My tone becoming more menacing.

As we continued our rehearsal, I noticed a man a seat behind us looking at us. Whilst Pete rehearsed a monologue, I looked back to see the man, he wore round sunglasses and a brown cowboy-ish hat, he had slightly long dark hair and a mustache. As he caught me looking, he smiled lightly at me, i then smiled back and softly and almost awkwardly nodded my head at him. He then copied my action only this time holding his hat which made me smile wider as i turned back to Pete.

Once we got to our stop, i could tell Pete was getting nervous. The man behind us was also getting off here.

Before we went in, I held Pete's arm to pull him back. His face was welcoming but slightly shaky. I held onto his hands saying, "I believe in you, you'll do amazing. This is your chance, hold your head high."
