"Three little b!€*es sitting in three little chairs," he cooed, starting to laugh cruelly.

His voice seemed to echo off the walls, making the experience all the more frightening. You were gagged, and tied to a chair, forced to look upon this drunk man's manner. He smelled terribly of alcohol, and his movements were unpredictable and precarious. He held a knife in one hand, and an empty bottle in the other.

"Who shall be my first victim?" He sneered, slurring words together.

You sucked in your breath, your two best friends were on either side of you. You stared him down.
'Pick me,' you said internally, 'not them.'

You knew that your words could never reach his drunk mind, but you hoped that you would be right.

"I've chosen," was all he said, and he raised his knife.

It came down like a blinding flash, and you heard it again. That horrible pained scream that was not your own.

You woke yourself up screaming.

You were sweating profusely, and shaking all over. You panted heavily, and slowly scooted yourself up to your bedpost. You looked all around you to be greeted by the darkness of your apartment room. It was pouring rain outside, thunderstorms were rumbling overhead.

You stared at the one window in your room, it was on the wall to the right of you. Raindrops were quickly running down the window, and onto the windowsill. You selected a raindrop that was traveling quickly down the window, but another raindrop surpassed it at the last second.

"You had one job..." you whispered as you messaged your eyes.

A loud buzzing sound made you jump, so you looked over at your nightstand. It was your phone of course. You carefully covered both eyes with your hands, and slumped back against the bed frame. You slapped your hands onto the bed, and picked up your phone.

"Hello there...?" You were still half asleep, and you were rubbing one eye in a tired fashion.

"Are you awake?" It was Liv's voice.

"No, I'm actually talking to you while I'm asleep," you responded sarcastically.

"Uh... right," Liv responded with an annoyed tone, "anyways, what are you doing?"

You started fixing your bangs so they were not frizzy,  "oh, you know... the usual... that happens every time I fall asleep."

"You really have to let that go y/n," Liv addressed you, "it wasn't your fault."

'No... it was,' you thought bitterly, "what's it this time?"

"Well," Liv began, you were hoping she would cut it short this time, "as you know I started a widely successful company, and I am the head of everything. We're doing something new."

"Really?" You responded sarcastically, "again?"

"Love the sarcasm so much," Liv responded with a hint of playfulness, "but anyhow, we need someone to help us design our... well... our design!"

You nodded, "mhmm."

"So I thought of you, would you be able to do the design? Today at two p.m. that's when they're holding the meeting for the design. It would only be an hour or so, nothing horrible." Liv explained quickly.

You sighed, "it's not like I have anything better to do on a Saturday, alright. But only because it's you Liv."

"Thank goodness!" Liv seemed really relieved.

"You already told them you have someone didn't you?" You teased, "hmm... typical of you Liv."

She laughed, "I know, I know, but I was just so sure you would come in to help us."
