Gods and Ghosts - Renheng/Xingyue

Chapter 1

There was once a kingdom that was in war against a powerful being, that no one knew the origins of or how it came to exist. This unknown being had many soldiers that were called 'monsters' for how they looked. These 'monsters' came in all shapes and sizes, some looked like an animal, with unrealistic features, and were either small or huge. Other 'monsters' looked slightly human, but weren't at all, and were the most difficult to kill.

The prince of this kingdom, named Dan Feng, was 16 when this war started. Dan Feng was only allowed outside when it was day, due to his parents, the king and the queen, not wanting their son to be harmed or killed.

Dan Feng had two knights that watched over him, making sure he was safe inside the palace, and outside of the palace, when the prince wanted to go to the towns outside of the palace. These two knights names were Jingliu and Baiheng, who were both in their early 30's.

Jingliu was known to be a really strong soldier and knight, and trained the soldiers that were fighting against the 'monster' soldiers of the unknown being that was attacking the kingdom.

Jingliu, had an apprentice, named Jing Yuan, who was 13. Jingliu was training Jing Yuan to become a knight for the kingdom when he was older. Whenever Jingliu was training Jing Yuan, Dan Feng would join in on the training, with permission from the king and the queen, so he could learn how to fight and protect himself.

Dan Feng, Jingliu, Baiheng, and Jing Yuan were all great friends and they all hung out and chatted when they weren't busy.

When Jingliu left to train the soldiers, Baiheng watched over and hang out with Dan Feng and Jing Yuan. Dan Feng and Jing Yuan were sat down in front of Baiheng, with Baiheng talking about important matters, which both Dan Feng and Jing Yuan were not listening.

Jing Yuan sighed, glancing over at Dan Feng, who looked just as bored, spacing out. Jing Yuan grinned, then tapped Dan Feng's shoulder.

"Tag!" Jing Yuan yelled, interrupting Baiheng, who was still talking about important matters. Jing Yuan quickly stood up, running out of the room.

Dan Feng immediately stood up, running after Jing Yuan. Baiheng's eye twitched as she stood up, quickly running after the two. Dan Feng chased Jing Yuan through the halls of the kingdom, being careful with going around the people working in the kingdom. Baiheng sighed and yelled, "Get back here you two!"

Dan Feng caught up to Jing Yuan, tapping Jing Yuan's shoulder, and running past him, with a smile on his face.

Baiheng continued to chase after Dan Feng and Jing Yuan, but eventually lost them. Baiheng sighed, beginning to look around the kingdom for Dan Feng and Jing Yuan. Baiheng noticed some broken vases, on the ground as she searched, her eye twitching every time she saw one broken. She made sure to inform some of the workers about the broken vases.

After awhile of Baiheng searching for the two, she finally found Dan Feng and Jing Yuan, sitting on the ground, against the wall, both exhausted. Baiheng glared at them as she approached the two. "Dan Feng, Jing Yuan. Stand up."

Dan Feng and Jing Yuan looked at each other, then up at Baiheng. Dan Feng and Jing Yuan stood up, with Jing Yuan looking away awkwardly. Dan Feng smiled as he said,

"We were bored of those shitty matters you were speaking of."

Baiheng's eye twitched at Dan Feng's comment. Baiheng took a deep breath, then face palmed. "Language Dan Feng." Baiheng removed her hand from her face, looking at the two. "You both are so immature." Baiheng said, noticing Dan Feng rolling his eyes.

Jing Yuan coughed awkwardly then spoke up, "Anyway. We were wondering if we could go outside to town." Baiheng raised an eyebrow, looking at the two for a few moments, thinking about it.

Baiheng sighed. "Alright, but no funny business. Cause any trouble, then we're going back to the palace."

Dan Feng and Jing Yuan both smiled, but their smiles dropped as Baiheng said, "I will still be informing Jingliu and your parents, Dan Feng, about the trouble you both caused."

Dan Feng and Jing Yuan both sighed, but nodded.
