Richard was taking his time inside his shower room. Thinking about Amelia and Lily. He love Amelia and his feelings was growing stronger each day. Yet he couldn't shake off the guilt that gnawed at him.

He felt as if he was betraying Amelia, the woman he had loved so deeply, and whose memory he had held onto for so long.

After taking a shower, Richard sat alone to his study, he looked at a picture of Amelia. Her smile was radiant, her eyes full of love. A wave of longing washed over him, and he found himself talking to the picture.

"Amelia, I miss you," he whispered, his voice choked with emotion. "I feel like I'm betraying you. I don't know what to do."

As he sat there, lost in his thoughts, he realized that he had to confront his feelings. He had to figure out what Amelia would have wanted for him, and what he wanted for himself.

The struggle within him was far from over, but he knew he had to face it, for his sake and for Lily's.

As Richard was deep in thought, his phone buzzed, breaking the silence of the room. It was a message from Lily.

"Richard, I hope you're doing okay. Just wanted to let you know that it's my grandma's birthday this weekend. We're having a small gathering at my place to celebrate. I thought you might like to come?"

Richard stared at the message for a long time. He thought about Lily, her kindness, her spirit, and how much he enjoyed her company. He thought about the laughter and warmth that she brought into his life. He realized how much he missed her.

He also thought about Amelia, about the love they shared, and the life they had built together. He knew Amelia would have wanted him to be happy, to move on and find joy again.

In that moment, Richard made a decision. He would go to Lily's grandmother's birthday. It would be a step towards confronting his feelings and resolving the struggle within him. He picked up his phone and began to type a response to Lily.

Richard took a deep breath and began to type his reply.

"Dear Lily, thank you for the invitation. I would be honored to celebrate your grandmother's birthday with you. See you then, Richard."

The day of the celebration arrived. Richard felt a mix of apprehension and anticipation as he made his way to Lily's home. He was greeted by the sound of laughter and the delicious aroma of home-cooked food.

Lily's grandmother was a delightful woman, her eyes twinkling with joy as she welcomed Richard.

"I've heard so much about you, Richard. I'm glad you could make it," she said, her voice warm and welcoming.

Richard smiled back at her. And then he enters the room.

The celebration was simple yet filled with warmth and happiness. There were stories shared, songs sung, and a beautiful cake that Lily had baked herself.

As the celebration continued, Richard found himself watching Lily. Her laughter echoed through the room, her eyes sparkling with joy.

As she turned to look at him, her smile wide and genuine, Richard felt his breath hitch in his throat.

In that moment, he saw Amelia in Lily's face.

The same radiant smile, the same sparkling eyes, the same warmth that Amelia used to exude. It was as if Amelia was smiling at him through Lily.

Overwhelmed by the moment, Richard walked towards Lily, his heart pounding in his chest. He hold Lily's face with a sadness on his eyes.

"Amelia," he whispered, his voice choked with emotion.

Lily turned towards him, her smile fading into a look of confusion.

"Richard?" she asked, her voice filled with concern.

Richard blinked, coming back to reality. He looked at Lily, realizing his mistake.

"I'm sorry," he said, his voice barely a whisper.

A wave of emotions washed over Lily. And she felt a lump forming in her throat. She fought back the tears, not wanting to draw attention to herself.

She managed to smile through the rest of the celebration, but Richard's words had struck a chord.

The room fell silent, all eyes on Richard and Lily. Richard felt a rush of emotions;
embarrassment, fear, but most of all, a deep sense of longing for Amelia.

But as he looked into Lily's eyes, he also felt a strong affection for her. He realized that he was not just seeing Amelia in Lily, but also appreciating Lily for who she was.

After the guests had left, only Richard and Lily remained. They began to clean up, working in silence.

Richard couldn't help but notice the sadness in Lily's eyes. He felt a pang of guilt for causing her distress.

As they worked, Richard began to share stories of Amelia. He talked about a similar celebration they had attended for his grandmother's birthday.

"You know, this reminds me of a time when Amelia and I were cleaning up after my grandmother's birthday party," he began, a smile playing on his lips.

Lily, who was stacking the dishes, paused to listen.

Richard continued, "Amelia decided to stack all the dishes in one go. She was always so determined, you see. She stacked them so high that I warned her it might topple over. But she just laughed and said she got it."

Richard chuckled at the memory, his eyes distant.

"And just as she was about to place the last dish on top, the stack wobbled and came crashing down. We spent the next hour cleaning up broken dishes and spilled food. But Amelia, she just laughed it off. She had this infectious laughter, you know. Even in the midst of the mess, we ended up laughing together."

As Richard reminisced about Amelia, Lily felt a pang of jealousy. She closed her eyes and tears was about to fall.

She was trying to understand, to be supportive, but hearing Richard talk about Amelia with such fondness stung.

She felt like she was living in Amelia's shadow, unable to measure up to the memory of a woman she had never met.

"Richard," Lily said, her voice sharper than she intended,

"I understand that Amelia was a big part of your life. But she's not here anymore. I am. And it hurts when you keep bringing her up like this." Lily continued to wash the dishes.

Richard looked at Lily, taken aback by her outburst. He hadn't realized that his stories about Amelia could be causing Lily pain.

"I... I'm sorry," he stammered.

"I didn't mean to upset you. I'll... I'll try to be more considerate."

"It's okay. I understand." Lily smiled at him but he knows she got really upset. Ended on a tense note. Both of them were left with a lot to think about.
