As she packed her belongings, her mother's achievements stood untouched. Amari decided it was wise to leave her mother's things as they were, for when she returned. Since Dr. Akashe still legally worked for the KDF even if her daughter didn't.

Finding some stashed disks, she decided to take a break. So far, she hadn't found any of her mother's research on her computer. Sliding in a disk, she watched old videos of her mother teaching, always graceful and composed.

The next few were graphs and spreadsheets of relevant data appeared, but not specifically on Gigantron—it seemed to have been deleted or stolen.

"Still relevant," she smiled, sending it to her drive for later. It would aid Ken in his role as Ultraman.

Through her search, she found a small folder of her mother's research but was met with a password entry.

"A-M-A-R-I," she typed, but it was rejected. The air was thick, as she wasn't surprised; she had often felt secondary to everything else. This reminder slightly spited her.

"Mari, do you know the password?" she asked.

"Unfortunately not, Dr. Akashe. The password was created right before her departure, so I have no records to compare."

With two more chances, she glanced around the room, taking in her mother's medals to photos. Thinking hard, of what it could be. Her eyes lingered on one picture of them together, in her gallery.

Biting her lip, she entered, "31415." The screen loaded and let her in.

The date was significant: the day her father died, his watch, having been retrieved broken, had been set to this time—the time Amari was born. He always reminded her of it, calling her his little sweet pie, a reference to the first digits of pi. This similarity was something he made sure to take pride in, claiming she was destined to be a genius.

With a sigh, she inserted the latest data card into the recorder. Static filled the room as her eyes scanned the waveforms. Just as fatigue began to set in, a rhythmic thump broke through the noise—soft at first, then more pronounced.

She froze, hardly daring to breathe. The sound was unmistakable: a heartbeat, rapid and steady.

"Mari, whose heartbeat is this?" she asked softly.

"It is the heartbeat of the Gigantron during her early maternal stages," Mari responded.

The heartbeat continued, and a warm feeling spread through her chest. She couldn't help but smile, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. This was not just a sound; it was a connection, a fragile link between her and the creature she had once seen as a threat.

Amari's heart swelled with a mix of emotions. She couldn't bring herself to harbor any resentment towards the creature—the same creature that had caused her and so many others such grief all those years ago. Instead, she felt an overwhelming sense of love and protectiveness. This was not just a Kaiju—it was a baby, a new life that she had the privilege of caring for.

Listening to the gentle thumping, she chuckled weakly. The sound was soothing, almost hypnotic, drawing her into its rhythm. She felt a bond forming, an unspoken promise to protect and nurture this innocent life.

For a moment, the weight of her responsibilities and the chaos of the world outside faded away. All that remained was the heartbeat, a steady reminder of the new life she was now connected to.
