✮ ⋆ ˚。𖦹 ⋆。°✩Sometimes, when verity woke up, she'd get all excited to tell her mom about the dream she dreamt the night before, only to be hit with the disappointment and reminder, that her Mom and dad weren't there anymore, and it was just Lori and stupid Shane.
She still didn't completely understand that her parents had left her there, she wish she knew why.
She sat in her tent, rethinking about her dream as she heard ruckus outside, sitting on her knees to peek out, she'd noticed that a few people were packing things into the van, she furrowed her brows confused.
Verity pulled on her sneakers before she opened the tent up, climbing out and stumbling - again - as she stood up.
She made her way over to Lori, standing next to her as they watched everyone "where are they goin' " verity asked, looking around.
Lori looked down at the girl, her arms were crossed and she looked worried, well, Lori always looked worried.
"There going into the city, I thought we told you this?" Verity bit her cheek as she looked at Lori "right" she nodded before walking away. She should probably start listening to people when they talk to her.
Verity had gone to her tent and changed, by the time she was done putting the same pink cardigan and jeans on, the van was gone and the people who were going into the city were gone with her, which verity was happy to realize that Merle had gone as well, which meant that daryl would be open to having her around.
She made her way over to the younger Dixon, tripping over her own feet.
"Daryl" she said, she didn't really know how to pronounce his name, so it always sounded like she was saying 'darl' which Carl had laughed at her about.
Daryl didn't say anything, but he grunted so verity took that as a go ahead."can you teach me how to fish?" She asked. She'd asked many people around camp to teach her, but they always said they were busy, which was confusing because, how could they be busy when they had nothing to do?
She'd also asked daryl before, but he replied with a straight up 'no' to which verity asked 'why' and he'd reply with 'don't wanna' which she liked because at least he was being honest on his reasoning.
Busy? In the apocalypse? Verity was eight, not stupid.
Verity was expecting the same answer she always got, she still always asked anyways.
Daryl grunted at her, which made verity grin, she'd learnt that when he 'grunted' it mean yes more times than not "awesome!" She cheered.
The two made their way down to the water, verity was rambling on about what keychain she thought glenn was going to bring back for her, daryl didn't say anything in reply, scoffing when she tripped over and fell down, to which she stood up and kept talking, like she didn't just fall over onto the ground. She fell a lot.
"Why arnt' we using those pole thingys?" She asked him, her face was scrunched up from the sunlight. Daryl had brought down these stick things that he has sharpened, verity thought they looked cool, but she was confused on how you caught fish with them.
"These 'are easier" daryl grumbled, to which verity raised her eyebrow, a new trick she got from dale "how do you use it?" She watched as daryl took his shoes and socks off, then rolled up his pants before stepping into the water, holding the stick thingy.
"You gotta stay still" he said, verity watched with curiosity as daryl stood there, looking into the water before he held the stick thingy with two hands before she very quickly jammed it into the water, pulling out a flapping fish that was stuck on it.
Verity cheered as she grinned "awesome!" She clapped. Yeah, she thought this stick thingy was so much cooler thank the pole thingy.
"Can I try?" She asked, daryl nodded his head as he threw the fish into a bucket, handing the stick thingy towards verity, waiting as she stumbled to take her shoes and socks off, and attempting to roll up her pants, but they kept falling.
Verity looked at daryl and pouted, the man bit the inside of his cheek before he handed the stick to verity "here" he mumbled, kneeling down and rolling the girls pants up for her "thanks!" Verity said before she walked into the water.
She tried to copy the way daryl had held onto the stick, but the thing was twice her size so it was very hard.
"Like this?" She asked, looking at daryl, who nodded his head making verity grin - she was doing it right.
Once she saw a fish, she quickly plunged the stick into the water, missing the fish completely, causing said fish to run into her leg, which made her squeal "it touched me!" She screamed out, jumping around trying not to touch the fish, which was defiantly long gone.
Daryl looked at the girl as she hobbled around in the water, he was aware of the fact she was scaring all the fish away but he allowed her to jump around anyways.
Verity, much to no one's surprise, tripped over the sand, causing her to drop the stick thingy in the water, she also, much to her distaste, fell backwards on her butt -into the water.
She whined out as she was splashed in the face, water getting in her eye. The girl slapped the water, before pulling herself up, tripping, and falling again.
Daryl tried not to smile. He did.
The two barely caught any fish, daryl helped her catch one, but he said she did it all by her self, so she also said she did it alone.
