worcester, massachusettsnika stayed close to jaydens side as they walked up the steps to the door. just as her first was about to hit the door, nika grabbed her hand, pulling it back down. "what if she doesn't like me?"
"thats not possible, shes gonna love you." jayden pulled her into a side hug, rubbing the girls back comfortingly.
she knocked on the door, shuffling on her feet. maddy appeared on the other side, instantly pulling her into a tight hug.
jayden laughed softly at the interaction, "hey mads, merry christmas."
maddy let her go, turning towards the brunette. "hi. nika, right?"
"yeah," she spoke quietly.
"its really nice to see you!" she spoke, an excited expression plastered across her face.
jayden could see relief wash over nikas face, "yeah, its nice to see you too. i'm glad i'm here."
the tall blonde brought the two inside, talking about how freezing it was.
they sat down in the living room, jayden leaning into nikas side on the couch. the fireplace in-front of them glowed lightly, the heat filling up the room.
maddy walked in with two gifts inhand and a large smile on her face. she looked at nika and handed her a small box. the girls face instantly lit up, "you got me something?"
"yeah! i know i don't really know you that well but when jayden asked if she could bring you, i knew i had to get something."
"thank you so much."
maddy pulled her into a quick hug, "yeah, of course."
she then turned to jayden, handing her a bag."open them. please?"
nika pulled the paper off slowly, a jewelry box inside. she pulled off the lid, revealing a necklace with a small basketball on the chain. she looked up at maddy, a large smile on her face. "thank you. i love it."
jayden leant over her shoulder, "thats so pretty. you want me to clip it on for you?"
"yeah, please." she fiddled with it until it came out if the box, handing it up to the girl. jayden hands reached around her neck, clamping the necklace.
"there you go!"
jayden sat back down, knees pulled up to her chest. maddy sat on her other side, "j, open yours."
"yeah, sure." she picked the large bag back up, pulling the red tissue paper out. inside sat a nike box with a pair of shoes.
"oh my god! maddy!" she shot up from her seat and pulled the girl into a hug, "you didn't need to do that! why?"
"i just wanted to, i guess." she laughed. the two came out from their hug and maddy ruffled the girls hair, pushing her back down into the couch. "anyways, i figured we could have dinner and some drinks?"
"yeah, sure." they all stood up and walked into the kitchen, trying to find food to cook. jayden pulled a bag of potatoes out of her pantry, placing them on the counter.
"we can make mashed potatoes?"
four hours later
nika was curled into a ball on the couch, snoring softly into the armrest.
maddy and jayden were still awake, watching a christmas movie. they were sipping hot chocolate, cuddled up under blankets.
it had started to snow softly outside, but neither girls noticed.
when the movie rolled into its credits, jayden stood up from where she was sitting. the girl instantly pulled her back down, "where are you going?"
jayden sighed softly, "we should probably get going, its really late."
"you can stay if you want?"
a frown tugged at her lips, "i wish, but... i brought nothing."
"i didn't really think about that." she put her mug down on the coffee table, standing up and pulling her into a hug. "you'll come visit soon, right?"
"obviously," she laughed, pulling away from the hug.
jayden leant down next to nika, brushing hair out from her face. "nika? were gonna head out now."
she groaned, sitting up slowly. "why."
"its one am, and i'm tired."
nika wrapped an arm around her shoulder to help herself up. "i was sleeping so good," she complained, her entire body weight on jayden.
"why don't you go out to the car? ill give you the keys." she spoke softly. "does that sound good?"
"yeah."
jayden let go of the girl and walked over to her purse. she pulled a keychain out and handed it to the taller girl. "ill be out in minute, okay?"
nika let out a soft smile, saying goodbye to maddy. she pressed a kiss to the top of jaydens head, "don't take to long please."
"i won't."
she left the room and jayden turned back around to face maddy. she had a smirk on her face, standing with her arms crossed. "so, what was that about?"
"what was what about?"
"that little kiss, obviously." she teased. jayden hid her now red face in her hands.
"its nothing, mads. okay?" she giggled, turning away from her cousin.
maddy, spun her around, "yeah, sure... nothing yet."
