"Y/n L/n, get a damn job!" The H/c haired girl rolled her eyes in annoyance as she rolled off her bed and walked lazily into the dimly lit hallway of her house and down the stairs to her kitchen. She stopped at the entrance way for the kitchen. "Mom, I have a job. A good paying one at that." The woman at the kitchen sink deeply sighed before turning off the sink. "I mean getting one over the summer."

Y/n lightly laughed as she opened the fridge and took out a bottle of water. "Aw mom, you don't like me in the house? Am I too much of a burden?" "Yes. Yes you are." Her mom stated blankly. Y/n giggled as she sat on the counter top next to her mom. "Come on, what's the point? Ugh, summer is only a couple months away, can we talk about it then?" She asked.

Her mom laid a hand on her hip and stared at the girl. "Y/n. You just turned twenty! Yes, I will admit you're doing great as a doctor, but taking your summer break as a vacation? If you're moving out next year, you need the money. And you're not going to get it from one job that you don't even do all year."

Y/n raised her eyebrows and looked down guiltily. She hated to admit her mother was right. Actually, she hated when anybody proved her wrong. "Yea, I know." She said as her mom hummed sassily. "The second a hiring flyer comes in the mail, you're applying." Y/n raised her hands up in defense. "Okay, okay!" She laughed as she watched her mom cook dinner.

Y/n sat at the dining table with her mom eating breakfast when the sound of the doorbell rang. "Probably the mail. Can you get it for me?" Her mom asked as she stood up. She muttered a quick 'yup' before walking over to the front door, opening it, and grabbing the cluster of envelopes and papers from the mail box. She shut the door and walked back over the dining table, going through the mail. "Taxes..taxes..coupon...deal...job application....garage sale-" "Let me see the application!" Her mom exclaimed.

Y/n smirked knowingly as she gave her mom the sheet of paper. "'Hiring new pen keepers at Jurassic World. Payment is 70 dollars an hour'?!" Her mom read as Y/n sat back down at the table. The girl raised her brows in interest. "That's a lot. Does it say specifically what kind of pen keeping?" Her mom shrugged. "I don't know, probably just feeding them or helping out. You could totally do this!" She exclaimed. Y/n almost protested until she saw her mom's hopeful expression. She sighed in surrender. "Okay, I'll apply. But doesn't that mean I have to fully live on the island where the park is?" Her mom nodded. "Yes, but it won't be a problem. You'll have your alone time and I'll finally be alone in the house." She teased as Y/n rolled her eyes. "Wow, I feel so loved."

"Bye Y/n! I'll miss you so much." Her mom bid as she hugged the girl. Y/n hugged her back as her suit cases sat beside her. "I'll miss you too." Her mom smiled. "And hey, don't forget to look for some cute guys~" She teased as the girl raised a brow. "Yea..I'm good, mom." The boat captain started to say that they were about to leave in 1 minute, making Y/n rush to grab her bags and suitcases. "Alright, bye mom!"

She walked onto the large boat as her mom waved at her from the deck. Y/n smiled and waved goodbye back as she held her suitcases close to her.  "Don't forget to call me when you get there!" "I won't!"

After the departure, she sat on a small bench next to the railing of the boat, taking in the light wind. Fortunately for her, the main keeper of the pen she's going to work at is going to be waiting at the dock for her. But it made her kind of nervous, since she still has no idea what dinosaurs she's going to be working with. She sighed before looking out into the sea, now wondering what her life was going to be like as a worker on a dinosaur filled island.
