Arush's POV :

When we entered the Ahuja's mansion, yes, mansion. Mr. Ahuja was an advocate. He was pretty famous, but right now, he’s running a restaurant, and his daughter, Sargun, is the manager. His wife is a professor, and their son just completed college, searching for an internship.

Sara’s mom and dad welcomed us. My dad and my stepmom, Mrs. Rathore, stepped inside, and I followed them.

❝Welcome, beta, sit here,❞ Sara’s mom said while pointing, and I went and sat on the sofa.

When everyone settled down on the sofa, we were offered water, which I declined, and the elders got busy talking among themselves. My attention, however, was solely on one person—Sara—because I wanted to see her.

We hadn’t met since last night, and I didn’t know how she would have reacted. Does she even know about our marriage? She left without informing me, and I had so many questions swirling in my mind. There was also an inexplicable excitement coursing through my veins.

❝Sargun beta, bring tea, and Nitish, call Sara right now,❞ Mr. Ahuja said.

As soon as I heard Sara's name, an electric current shot through my entire body. I was feeling elated, and then Sargun, Sara’s sister, came out with tea and placed it in front of us. It was strange, though, because she was smiling shyly.

❝Beta, meet Sargun, with whom your marriage is going to be fixed,❞ Sara’s mom said casually.

Wait a second—she is the girl I’m supposed to marry? God, I didn’t even ask Dad who I was going to marry. Damn it.

❝Beta, serve tea to Arush,❞ her mom instructed.

Sargun placed a cup of tea in front of me, but my mind was completely blank. Does Sara know about this? Where is she, anyway? Why hasn’t she come out yet?

❝Deepak, I can’t believe that our friendship is about to turn into a relationship,❞ Mr. Ahuja said, and my dad nodded, smiling.

I glanced at Sargun, who was still feeling shy, and my mind was racing. I was supposed to marry Sara, not her.

❝Wait a minute, Dad, I think there’s a misunderstanding,❞ I blurted out, finally snapping back to reality. Everyone turned to look at me.

❝I don’t want to marry this girl; I want to marry Sara.❞

My dad choked on his tea, and just then, I noticed Sara standing there, wide-eyed, frozen. What the hell did I just do?

❝No...no...this can’t be happening,❞ Sargun yelled, and my dad looked at me like I was a ghost. What was I supposed to do? Marry a stranger? Okay, maybe I don’t know that much about Sara either, but at least she’s not a complete stranger to me.

❝This can’t be happening,❞ Sargun cried, clutching her father’s arm, but his focus was on Sara. She wasn’t saying anything, just standing there, trying to process everything.
