EMMELINE MADISON CARROW

How much I hated the morning from one to ten? Maybe an one hundred thousand. And not because it was morning, but because I had to work in my parents' store.

I've been working in the store for three years, and as much as I needed a salary to afford a house and all the things I could use, working with mom and dad wasn't my dream.

As a child I dreamed of working at the Ministry, but since the war had been won by Voldemort, it was under his supervision.

Four years ago, when the Battle of Hogwarts took place, it was won by Voldemort. Since four years, everything had changed.

Many people, with whom I had attended school, including the Golden Trio had moved just after the war to not be subdued by Voldemort.

The latter killed whoever was against him instead let live, if with several restrictions, who was or pretended to be on his side.

I wasn't thrilled to be on Voldemort's side, but if that meant that I could live in part quiet, then I would.

Still in bed, I took the phone and checked the time. Even today I was late and I was ready for another lecture from my mother on the fact that I arrived too many times late.

I rolled my eyes at the thought of it and got out of bed, made a quick breakfast while I picked out my clothes to wear. I opted for a simple T-shirt and soft pants so I could be comfortable at work.

I left the house in a hurry and I walked downtown to get to work. Before entering my phone rang.

«Hello?»

«Hi honey, I wanted to know if your day started off shitty too» Pansy said.

I chuckled and told her that even my morning had not started in the best way.

«Emmy actually I wanted to ask if you wanted to go out one of these days. Daphne already told me it's okay, she said she leaves Scorp to Draco» Pansy said.

«Oh God, is she sure of what she's doing?» I asked.

Pansy on the other end of the phone laughed.

«Daphne trusts too much. But I think there is Narcissa with Draco» he told me.

«That's good enough then» I chuckled

«Pansy I will call you back, I arrived at work and I already see my mother's disappointment on her face» I grumbled.

«Good luck, friend» she replied.

«Thank you I will need it» I told her before hanging up.

I put the phone in my bag and walked into the store.

«Do you think this is the time to get to work, young lady?» my mother asked me with her arms crossed.

«The alarm didn't go off» I lied.
