SHE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TIME IT WAS. Neither had she any plans of checking – she had a day off, and intended to spend that day underneath the covers of her bed, half asleep while some silly sit-com played until Netflix wanted her to confirm she was still watching before it continued the episode. When the sound of the alarm didn't stop, she turned and pressed her face into her pillow, the faint, comforting smell of a man's cologne sharpened her senses. Behind her, the mattress shifted, someone leaving the bed for a brief second, only for the mattress to dip again as the person returned, wrapping themself around Maya. "Do you think I'll be missed if I just don't go to work today?"
"I don't know," Maya hummed. "Did they seem upset when you turned down the invitation to their party this weekend?"
"To be honest, I have no idea," Luke chuckled, his voice rough with disuse. "I muted the groupchat long before I even had the chance to see any responses. It was our first real weekend together, just the two of us."
Maya turned, first her head, then her entire body, still halfway underneath Luke's body. "Let's just say Hannah wasn't very happy with me when I turned down work and drinks with her on Friday, and said she had to cover a red carpet event with one of her less favourite photographers," Maya grinned, pulling another chuckle from Luke, though the chuckle was replaced with a wince as another ringing was heard from his phone. "That doesn't sound like an alarm clock."
"No, it's not," he sighed, leaning forward to press a kiss against her cheek. "That's the ringtone reserved for my manager."
"That doesn't sound too good."
Luke shook his head, a grin toying with his lips. "No need to worry, I'm sure he just wants to meet and run through some possible auditions or something," he shrugged, reaching for his shirt. Maya remained quiet, simply watching him as he dressed, both his hair and his shirt a little rumpled. At one point he stopped, rubbing at his eyes sleepily, before throwinf a longing look for the mattress next to her. "That spot, right there, is where I'll be once I'm done working for the day."
"I'm taking your word for it," Maya grinned in response.
"Keep it warm for me?"
"Difficult," Maya rolled her eyes. "I can't warm the entire bed by myself, and you know that. Besides, I'm always cold, why else would I use you as a blanket the entire night?"
Luke feigned a gasp. "I imagined it was because you liked the cuddles, but I'll have to rethink this thing between us then," he huffed, though grinned, leaning across the mattress to press a kiss to Maya's lips. "If this is a lame way of asking if it's alright for Obie to stay in bed with you all night, it just proves how heavy you sleep, because he didn't leave the bed until my alarm rang." Luke chuckled softly, his breath fanning over Maya's lips as he spoke, before closing the gap with a kiss so gentle, she wondered if he was afraid she'd crumble underneath his touch. "I'll see you later, darling."
