As one of the head scientists at Blackrock, it was my job to keep the employees (and one particular nuisance I will not mention) in check. Today was like any other day. I walked in, hung my jacket, and entered one of the chambers to clean it. Surprisingly, it was very sticky with some kind of substance.
I reached out a hand to touch it, but it stung, and I pulled back with a sharp gasp. I shook it like I accidentally just put my hand in boiling water. I wonder for a moment about what that substance could be, before brushing the thought off. Whatever it was, it'll be gone after I'm done with it. I walk down the hall to get a rag and happen to bump into my colleague. Ugh,
Subspace.
"Hey, pal! You look like somebody just stole your favorite murder device. What's with the long face, Meddy?"
"It's none of your business."
I sigh, trying to get around him, but he grabs my shoulder and I nearly jump out of my skin.
"You can't just say that to me! Cmon, spill the tea. Spill it!"
He grins.
"Subspace, are you ever going to stop bothering me?" I groan, rubbing my face. That was a bad idea. Now my cheek stung as well.
"Nope!"
My shoulders slump as I hear this. I just need to get a rag, how hard can he POSSIBLY make that? Apparently a lot, judging by his childish behavior. I'm shaken out of my internal rant quite literally, as he shakes my arms.
"Did you just fall asleep? Tell me the damn thing!"
My fists clench, as I'm getting a little frustrated. If he's going to keep bugging me, then there's no hope in getting around it. So I tell him.
"Chamber 47 has some kind of sticky goop covering the walls. I was GOING to get a rag to clean it up before you came up to me, and would't hush until I told you what was happening."
Subspace pouts at me with an exaggerated sad tone in his voice.
"Just goooo..."
"I'd be happy to."
I leave down the hall, and finally reach the locker with the cleaning supplies. I enter the code, and snatch the rag with a snarl. Walking back, I see Subspace enter Chamber 32. Good, he'll be far away from me now. Finally, I open the door and start wiping the goo off the walls.
[ABOUT AN HOUR LATER]
I'm now sitting down, leaning my back against the oh so satisfying CLEAN WALL, whilst wiping the sweat off my forehead. Only when I started cleaning I realized how much of it engulfed the room. I look at my watch and see it's almost time to get off work. It would take a few minutes to go back to the entrance to grab my coat, so I started walking. Once I reached the coat hanger, I took my coat off of it, put it on, and left out the door without even saying goodbye to Subspace...
Good.
(I HOPE YALL ENJOYED PART ONE!! :3)
