A month later.

"Cmon, please."

"No!"

"Please."

"No!"

"Please."

"No!"

"Please."

I fake smiled, turning my chair forward. "Yes." I spoke. Karlie's jaw dropped. "Really?" She asked. "Nope." I quickly said. She huffed. It is Wednesday, the work day. But Karlie happened to come over during lunch for one reason. "Hailey, cmon. You have to. It's a party hosted by yours truly, it'll be a couple friends and work friends too. Let loose tonight!" She begged. I turned around. "Give me a good reason. Why should I go to a party?" I asked. She smiled amusedly. "Well, there's drinks, people, drinks! Even cute guys." She told me. "I said a good reason." I sassed annoyedly. Karlie hummed in response while intertwining her hands on her lap. "How about this? You haven't got out since bringing Donna home and you clearly need to be around your peerage. The only time you were was when some girl talked sports bras with you. And she was the Target cashier!" She spoke dramatically. I shrugged and smirked. "At least I got some new bras." I joked but in a serious tone. Karlie inhaled a deep breath. "Hailey, it's not too much. It wouldn't kill you to have a good time now and then. Find some time for your girls, grab a Frappunchino, mingle with a guy. I understand your attention has to be on Donna 24/7 but you have the right to be a person too. It's gonna get crazier once she gets bigger, you know. You'd have to come straight from work to home just to watch her." She advised. Whoa, wasn't expecting that. It also reminded me what Mom said back in Aunt Mal's house. 'Remember to take care of yourself too.' Though I'm Donna's mom, I'm also a person as well. Living my life is just as important as raising one. Besides, Mom and anybody else would help anyway if I need it. I practiced taking a few breaths since I was beginning to feel anxious. Karlie held my hand softly. "I'll be with you, ok? Don't drive yourself crazy over a single party. You'll get used to it the more you get outside." She assured. I nodded, smiling a little. "Alright. Let's go." I said. She cheered and hugged me tightly. I snickered but tried breathing through the hug. "Karlie, I'm attending this party but I'll never make it unless you let go of me." I spoke through gritted teeth. She parted from me. "Sorry." She said sheepishly. I turned my attention back to my laptop. "Alright, the party's at 6. Ok, first things first, we're gonna find your outfit. I'm not doubting your style, just hope you got something in your closet." Karlie continued, walking to my room. I rolled my eyes and smiled amusedly. Oh Karlie.

Ringing the doorbell, I shifted Donna in my grasp while waiting patiently. She looked around and babbled every few seconds. The door opened, showing Mom. She smiled happily. "Hi love! And hello to you too sweetie." She greeted, kissing her forehead. Donna giggled cutely. "Hey Mom, thank you so much for doing this. You didn't have to." I said before handing her to her arms. Including her giant yellow bag. Mom motioned me to shush. "Ah, ah, ah. Remember what I said baby? We'll help you with anything you need. Especially with this cutie pie." She said. I smiled and smooched Donna's cheeks. A happy grin popped on her face. "I'll be back later my beautiful girl. Have fun with grandma and grandpa. Be back at 9:30." I told her. She nodded and waved. "Ok, have fun Hailey." She said, smiling. I walked out after the door closed. A nice party where to mingle, dance and eat. Let's enjoy it, Hailey.

My purse hung over my shoulder as I walked out of my room. I grinned and playfully twirled around. My hair was curled, applied makeup, my silk black dress with black louboutins. It's been a while that I've worn something stylish for an occasion. The only occasions were business meetings and parties involving important people. Karlie was gonna meet me there, since she's hosting and cannot leave during the party. I put my recharged phone, wallet, AUX cord, a rape whistle cause you never know in my purse. I grabbed my keys off the couch and locked my door. I honked my car once I left the building.
