Enzo stood his ground, his voice surprisingly steady despite the tremor in his hands. "Leave him alone, Mark," he said, his gaze locked on the bully's hateful eyes.

Mark scoffed, his amusement quickly turning into a sneer. "Oh, so now the little mouse has a voice," he mocked, taking another menacing step closer. "Let me tell you something, Enzo, this town doesn't have room for your kind."

Alex, his fists clenched tight, stepped forward, placing himself between Enzo and Mark. "Get lost, Mark," he growled, his voice a low rumble. "This doesn't concern you."

Mark laughed, a harsh, grating sound that echoed across the rooftop. "Doesn't concern me? This is the biggest gossip this town will see all year!" He cast a malevolent glance at Enzo. "Just you wait, everyone will know your dirty little secret."

Fear threatened to consume Enzo, but then he looked at Alex, his stance unwavering despite the danger they were in. A newfound sense of courage surged through him. He wouldn't let Mark win, wouldn't let him dictate their lives.

Mark's eyes narrowed. "Oh, they will," he sneered. "Just you wait."

He turned on his heel and stalked off the rooftop, leaving behind a tense silence. Enzo and Alex stood there, their breaths coming out in ragged gasps. The weight of Mark's threat hung heavy in the air, a dark cloud threatening their newfound happiness.

He reached out and placed a hand on Alex's arm, the warmth of his touch a beacon of hope in the face of uncertainty. "We can face this together, Alex," he said, his voice gaining strength with each word. "We won't let him win."

Alex met his gaze, a spark of admiration flickering in his eyes. "You're right," he said, a determined smile spreading across his face. "We won't let him win. But we need a plan. We can't just wait for the inevitable."

They spent the rest of the afternoon huddled together, whispering strategies and brainstorming solutions. They knew exposing themselves could mean facing ridicule and ostracization from their peers, but the thought of losing their newfound connection was even more terrifying.

"We'll face the storm together, hand in hand, side by side"

As the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in vibrant hues of orange and purple, a tentative plan began to form. It was a risky plan, filled with uncertainties, but it was their only chance.
