Chapter 2

Scarlett's P.O.V

I woked up thinking about Maria. Yesterday I told her that she should tell her parents, that she is being bullied at school. But Maria rejected my advice. I went downstairs and my brother Jonas was eating. I got some cereal and eat it fast.

I went upstairs to get my supplies that I needed today at school.
I left the house to pick up Maria.

When I arrived I knocked the door.

*knock* *knock* Maria came out already ready to go to school. She smiled and said "lets go". She sounded in a sort of a crying voice and in a happy tone.

I noticed she was wearing her sweater with her hoodie on. I broke the silence and said "umm Maria it's not cold, why are you wearing it. The temperature is 81 and it's cloudy". Maria didn't responded.

I saw tears streaming down her pale skin. I stared to wonder many things. She could be sick. I grabbed her shoulder and we both stopped. She covered her face with her hands. I told her to show me her face.

She sigh and took her hoodie off. She had been punched in the face. She had two cuts in one cheek and in the other one a big bruise.

I gasped and said "Maria who did this to you?!" Maria cried louder and responded "it was..my parents". I got mad somehow.

I cleaned her tears with a tissue that I got from my backpack. I said "there,there, it's okay don't cry". We continued until we where at school. I got in my classroom, and sat on my seat.

I dint feel bad for Maria, and I didn't know why. Maybe she will get better she doesn't need my protection. I wonder what she is doing right now. A bell ringed and it was time to go to science class. I went to my locker and got my text books and journals.

As I arrived I heard girls laughing in the back of me. I turned around they had beautiful accessories and pretty clothing. I went to meet them. "Hello girls my name is Scarlett Holiday". A tall girl with a red shirt said "Hello Scarlett want to be like us". I got surprised at that question.

"But I'm ugly, I'm not pretty". I said. She responded "that's why silly, I'm going to turn you beautiful". I agreed to her response.
She said "cool! Now meet me in my house at 7:00 p.m". She handed me a card with her phone number, house direction and other details.

I put my card in my purse and left to class.

In the class the teacher said "good morning Scarlett, please sit down". I took my seat next to a hot boy. His name was Matt. I smiled at him and he smiled back.

"In 15 more minutes we are going to take a test, so take advantage of this time to study what you dint study".The teacher said and sitted down on his chair.

I got my homework folder and looked for my notes from yesterday. I founded them folded in the very end. I got them and studied all I could. The teacher said "okay now stop class, it's time to take the test". Everyone said "noooooo sir!". The teacher raised an eyebrow and said " you where supposed to study them for homework also!". Everyone kept silence.

As we took the test the teacher was walking around making sure we dint cheat.

Maria's P.O.V

It was lunch time for my class. I looked at the clock, it was already 11: a.m, I sigh and got in line to leave. As we got in the cafeteria it smelled delicious. They where going to give pizza! My favorite.

Everyone was sitting in their own table, I got excited to see Scarlett. She was eating alone. I went with my plate. I said "hi Scarlett!". She said "sorry I can't eat with you today Maria.

I heard giggles in the back of me, I turned around and saw 3 girls. The three where tall and blonde. I smiled and said to Scarlett "it's okay, maybe tomorrow or when I have the opportunity to seat with you again". I left and sat alone for the rest of the lunch period.

I felt alone, hated, rejected, many bad feelings went all over my body. Why would my best friend not invite to at least be with her.

I looked over where Scarlett was with the other girls. They weren't the only ones. It was also 4 boys.

I looked at Scarlett's face. She looked like if she was having more fun than me. I let it pass, plus she needs to make more friends. I'm just getting jealous over nothing.

The next day I went alone to school. Scarlett took forever for us to walk to school.

I got to my class and said seated down in my chair. The mean boys where bothering me again. I looked at my feet with tears in my eyes and wondered why was I so ugly to them. I already had a lot of loneliness, because my parents where fighting constantly and I was being bullied.

I ignored everyone that day. Soon enough I felt a little happy because it was time for lunch. I'm going to sit with Scarlett.
She was alone so I got my plate and sat down to her. I said "Hello". She looked at me in a very serious face. "Go eat somewhere else frog!". I got impressed at the words that came from the mouth of my best friend, the best friend that I considered like a big sister.

I went to a table that no one used. The feelings I got a while ago came back to bother me. I looked at the popular kids table. "I guess that's where you belonged this while time big sister". I was talking to myself and thinking of other stuff.

When lunch time was over it was time for reading class. The teacher was really nice. He preferred me to read, be the one that helps him in everything while working. I knew that he understand what I felt. I really like when we are in reading class, it's calm and I feel relaxed.

The next day was going to be Saturday. Finally it was the weekend. When I got home I put on some shorts and another shirt. I got my soccer ball and went outside.

My father divorced with my mother last week. But I don't care anymore. I kind of felt better, now that there where no fighting screams in the house.

When 68 minutes passed I decided to get inside. I heard my mom talking to someone on the phone. When she hanged up, she turned around and was crying. I hugged her and she said "I messed up.....". I looked at her she was really sad. I was about to say something, until she told me "today your father was involved in a accident ... He was taken to a hospital but 20 minutes later he passed away.

I felt shivers down my spine, and felt that my heart broke into million pieces. I went to my room and cried. All night was painful. My dad died and my mom is always tired.
