Tine's P.O.V.
I watched as the color left Deena's face.
"You okay?" I asked her.
'Y-Yeah." She walked past me and headed straight to the coffee machine.
Are her hands shaking?
What's wrong with her?
"Deena?" She stopped scooping the coffee when she heard me calling on her.
"Are you okay?" I asked her again.
She turned and gave me a forced and awkward smile.
"Of course." And she turned her back again.
I watched her silently as she made her coffee with trembling hands.
Something is up.
Or, was it still about the kiss? She probably didn't expect to see me here and was caught by surprise.
I know we agreed to forget about it, but I also know, it was not easy to.
I waited for her to finish and walk with her side.
"Why did Thea call you a liar?" I remember to ask her.
And there it was again, she even stopped walking and looked nervous.
What the hell happened to her and Thea?
"Ohh- You know, uhmm, you know Thea! I mean, it was... It was nothing, she was, you know, she's..."
"Uh-huh, yeah, I know Thea." I cut her off as clearly, she'd end up lying.
Deena sighed deeply before facing me.
"We went to the club last night, Thea and I. I mean, her new boyfriend was there too, and... I, well, I met a girl there..."
For a second, I felt everything stop, even my breathing, and everything seemed to fade away and it was just us both standing in the middle of our office floor.
I could see Deena's mouth moving but in slow motion and no voice was coming out of it.
What the fuck is happening?
But before I went to another dimension, I was able to get back to my senses.
"...So, that was it. She was teasing me about her." I heard Deena end her story.
"You- You met someone last night?" I asked her clearing my throat as suddenly, I felt a big lump that I couldn't seem to swallow.
"Uhm, yeah. I just told you, her name is Jessica. But I didn't even exchange numbers with her, because, you know, I just met her there. We drank, we danced, we... you know, had fun. Are you okay? You look pale?"
My gaze fell upon Deena's Grey eyes. They looked worried.
I forced a smile, trying to mask the unease swirling inside me.
"Yeah, I'm fine," I lied, feeling the sting of my own words.
"Are you sure?" Deena studied my face for a moment, her brows furrowing.
I nodded quickly, not trusting myself to say more. My mind was racing, trying to process the idea of Deena with someone else.
But that didn't stop the pang in my chest or the knot in my stomach. I couldn't help it. The idea of her with that girl, Jessica, made something twist painfully inside me.
"Ok, good." Deena said softly, still looking at me like she was trying to figure out what was really going on. "Because you really look like you've seen a ghost."
