Chapter 2

It was the day after, and Jake had ushered John over to his house to go over the deets for operation 'superpowers' and 'operation get the girl'. He had a white board with a paper booklet attached to it with a metal clip. The booklet was filled with notes that he'd scribbled down with picture diagrams describing what each idea was. He turned to the first page, and it had a drawn picture of Piccolo meditating while floating in the air.

"Like Piccolo if you get into your zen state maybe that's when your superpowers can be revealed. For example, flight."

He turned to another page "Or like Aang from avatar legend of Aang who used air bending to fly. He started flying when he was happy or when he got angry and almost killed a lot of people, I can't remember the exact episode, but you know what I'm talking about right?"

John nodded remembering the episode he was talking about and watching it years ago with him before they got really popular and were a little bit more geeky.

"Maybe if we got you really mad your powers might come out," said Jake

John made a noise of uncertainty, but Jake carried on

"The other characters from dragon ball z had to go super Saiyan and it seemed like they were trying to get into an angry state before their superpowers could charge up and activate. So maybe we should just skip to seeing if pissing you off will help activate your superpowers but it's up to you"

"I think I want to try zen state first." Said John

"Oh k" jake said like he was slightly underwhelmed by his option

He turned a few pages on the whiteboard

"Close your eyes and think about how you just won all your sports games and aced all your exams, and you have a girlfriend who's perfect for you in every way and it's going great"

"Like the new girl "

"Like the new girl... who you still haven't found out the name of yet"

Suddenly he heard Jake setting up a fan and air blowing against his face

"And your now on vacation on a tropical island with you girlfriend and me and my boyfriend because I also found someone, and this brings you zen like peace"

It started to smell like coconuts and John opened his eyes to Jake spraying a coconut scented spritz in front of the fan

"Tropical vibes"

John closed his eyes again

"Okay..."

"Are you zen?"

"I guess...?" said John

"Right now try and imagine yourself flying and gravity fading away."

That's when Jake started massaging his shoulders

"Zenn" he said as tropical sounding music came on with waves and seagulls in it and then it was followed by a Buddhist monk playing singing bowls.

"Okk..?" said John trying to keep his eyes closed confused by the background noises.

Then johns eyes opened when he smelt incense. He screwed up his face "No" and took the incense from Jakes hand and put it out

"What why?" asked Jake

"Incense literally smells so bad that's not going to do anything except give me a headache"

"Oh, never mind then my bad"

A kettle boiling on the stove from the kitchen went off and Jake rushed to go get it and came back with it and a small white porcelain Chinese teacup and poured him a jasmine loose-leaf tea.
