Chapter FOUR:
Tobias"Damn, man. There is something seriously wrong with you." Kai said as he kept the glass of scotch on his table.
"Oh wow, someone woke up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed this morning, didn't they? I already knew that, Einstein." I pointedly say with a glare.
He grins, his white teeth flashing in the strobe light chaos of the club.
"It's no fun when I don't rub it in your face when you so magnificently messed up." He flashes another grin.
How wonderful.
Kai Drake. I had met this piece of art while I was shooting for Vogue Hommes Japan about 4 years ago. Our connection has remained strong ever since, though I suspect it's because he enjoys getting on my nerves.I lose my train of thought when I feel Kai pat my shoulder.
"Don't worry man, I know why that happened to you."
I snap my head towards him desperate for an answer, "You do?"
"Yep, I guess it's about time that your sad and miserable love life finally caught up with you." he teases.Such a pixie he is. I roll my eyes at my inner monologue.
"Come on Tobias, loosen up. That's the entire reason why I brought you to this club."
I roll my eyes at him. He's right but it doesn't mean I will agree with him. I cross my arms in defiance, not ready to succumb to his idea and go socialize with a girl to take her home.I see Kai's attention wavering off towards a blonde. I admit, she is pretty, her amber eyes shining as bright as her sunset orange dress but six inch heels for a night of dancing? A bit too much high maintenance for me. My eyes drift over to a certain brunette though, her long eyelashes adorn her big beautiful doe eyes.
"Beautiful." I murmur to myself.
My eyes follow her cascading scarlet dress which stops around mid thigh dangerously lurking between scandalous and flirty. The scarlet fabric skimmed her curves, the sound of laughter tinkling from her lips like wind chimes.
Okay Tobias, calm down. It's just a dress and she's just another girl. But damn, she looks good.
Hope she doesn't fall for Kai's charm tonight. He's a handful. Maybe I can subtly warn her.God, I can't take my eyes off of her.
My eyes move to her hair which seems to have been manipulated least, her brown tresses floating down her shoulders.
I glance over to Kai to check if he's looking at me as I suddenly get reminded of his presence. He's going to pester me for the rest of my life if he's figured out I'm actually looking at a random girl in a club.
But he doesn't notice. For he's busy with another woman now.
Oh, the perks of being blessed with good genes.
I turn my head and see the blonde girl force the brunette to dance, to which she declines again and again but the blonde doesn't comply and drags my siren off to dance. My siren, I muse to myself.
"My,my,my..."
I snap my head in Kai's direction.
"Never thought I'd see the day, Tobias.", he smirks.
I raise my eyebrows in question, even though I'm sure what he means by his statement.
"You like the brunette, don't you?"
I scoff.
"Really? You don't like her?", he challenges.
"Yes Kai, I don't like her."
"Too bad", he muses, "She's fine as hell."
My jaw clenches at his comment. He just can't catch a hint today can he? The thought of my fist connecting with his jaw makes me happy.
But Kai's next statement makes me see red."Bet you a thousand bucks she'll go home with me.", he says wagging his eyebrows.
"No, 'cause you won't do that."
"Oh! Is that so?" Kai teases.
"Don't even think about it."
"Watch me", he says as he saunters off towards my siren.Suddenly, I really want to throw him off of a cliff.
I see Kai heading straight for her when he collides with a waitress.
I smirk. Suits him right.
