Chapter 2

When Mordecai woke up,he found himself on a couch. The room wasn't that big. The couch was L shaped,with a coffee table in the middle. A few paintings were hanging against the wall. There were barely any decorations. A window was there,being the only source of light.

Was it morning already? Where even is he? He rubbed his head as it throbbed. He drank way too much...

He heard footsteps heading inside the room. Wait,did he hear hooves?

He saw a purple unicorn standing there. She smiled happily at him

"I'm glad you're awake." She said. She was ready to introduce herself.

"AAAHHHHH!" Mordecai screamed,standing up and backing himself against the wall.

Twilight tried to explain herself. "You don't need to be scared. You were in trouble and I-"

"Get away from me!" He said,to the point of having a mental breakdown. His fear of unicorns was prominent now. He didn't quite have the best relationship with the species.

Twilight calmed him down the best she could and slowly walked closer to him. "I'm not gonna hurt you,okay? I'm Twilight Sparkle. Some guys were beating you up last night and I stopped them. You were so drunk and I couldn't leave you there. I promise I won't hurt you,okay?"

Mordecai inhaled and exhaled,ultimately having calmed down.
"Mordecai..." He responded. He slowly sat back down on the couch.

"S-Sorry,I just freaked out and-"

"No,it's fine..I get it.."
Twilight said,standing near him now. She wondered what his deal was. He didn't seem too okay.

"How did you even...end up there?"

She asked,to which Mordecai chuckled. " I might have had too much to drink. Then those guys were like  'You're on our turf,we're gonna beat you up now!'

Twilight shook her head and laughed. "See? And the hangovers are the worst part...N-not that I drink. My friends do, and they can get very moody..."

Twilight nervously rubbed her neck with her hoove. "Seriously though,what really made you end up there?"

This time,Mordecai's demeanor changed to something more melancholic. He rested his hands on his knees. He owed her an explanation. She could've left him on the streets,but she didn't.

"It's stupid...I work at this park and everyone there might lose their jobs. That's basically our home.."

Twilight listened intensively and sat a distance away from him on the couch.

Mordecai continued explaining. "The boss there,he fell into debt and the only way to pay it is to sell it. That would leave me jobless."

Twilight shook her head. "I'm really sorry."

"It's fine..." Mordecai said,obviously lying through his teeth. Nothing is fine.

Then,a light bulb dinged in Twilight's head and she smiled. "I have an idea. We can save your park!" She exclaimed proudly and jumped up.

"Like what? We're doomed."

"Just take me to your park."

Mordecai was intrigued. What was her deal? What brought her all the way here? He'd never seen her around,so she's not from here.

"Are you from here?" He asked and stood up. Twilight hesitated before answering. "No, I'm just staying here for the time being."

"How so?" They both walked to the front door.

"UH..." Twilight had to come up with an answer,fast. "Just visiting family."
She finally said. She was relieved when Mordecai accepted her answer. How would she even explain her situation to him?
