ARC 1: The Imbalance
My day was just like any other on Starkiller base. I was Kylo Ren's right-hand woman. I was walking down the hallway with two Storm Troopers following me. I was looking for Kylo as he had requested to see me. "Do you know where he is?" I asked the Troopers softly. They shook their head. "Sorry, Lady K." One of the Troopers said. I gave a slight shake in my head, "No worries." Walking a bit more I ran into General Hux. He gave a very slight nod to me. Before he walked passed, I stopped him. "General." I called out. Hux stops in his tracks and looks over at me. "Lady K?" He asked. "Do you know where Kylo is?" I asked.
Hux's face soured like he was sucking on a lemon. "He's in the training room. He's in a very bad mood." Hux huffed a bit, then mumbling, "Good luck." Great. "Thank you." I stated. With a final nod, Hux walked off. I began heading to the training room. When I got there, I could hear Kylo yelling. I swallowed thickly and dismissed the two Troopers who were following me. I walked in silently. Kylo had his lightsaber out and I smelled something burning. I walked carefully up to him. "Lord—" Kylo cut me off. "WHAT?!" He yelled, causing me to flinch.
Kylo turned around sharply. His angered face softened a bit when he saw me. "You needed to see me?" I asked. Kylo took a minute to respond. He was taking deep breaths, which I assumed was him trying to calm down. He deactivated his lightsaber and attached it back to his hip. Kylo rubbed his face with a gloved hand and let out a long, frustrated sigh. "Sorry for yelling at you." He said, finally calm. I gave him a polite smile and shook my head. "I do need to see you. I have thought about it, and I want to pick up your training again. I feel that you can be much stronger with the force." Kylo explained.
I was a former Jedi, dawning two purple lightsabers. Since I pledged my allegiance to the first order, I really haven't used them that much. Kylo used to train me, but then he stopped, due to the force in me being very unstable. My eyes widened a bit in shock, "B-but, sir—" Kylo raised his hand, cutting me off. "I know the force is unstable in you. But, I have a huge feeling that with proper training, you will be able to stabilize it. Plus...there's a pull. A connection..." Kylo trailed off.
"A connection?" I asked. Kylo nodded, his soft raven hair bouncing slightly, "Yeah. Like we are...connected. So, I will be training you." "When do we start?" I asked. "Tomorrow. Today, you are coming with me to Cabu." Kylo answered. Cabu was a small ice planet that the First Oder conquered. "We have some information about the Resistance from our spy." Kylo continued, "So dress warm. I have placed a new cloak on your bed. I want you to wear it." "Oh! Thank you! When are we leaving?" I asked. "In an hour." Kylo says. "If you will excuse me, I will be in my quarters getting ready." I say, excusing myself. Kylo gave me a nod.
When I got to my quarters, sure enough, a new cloak was neatly folded on my bed. I put on a thicker sweater and changed my fluffy skirt to a pair of legging-like pants. I put my boots back on. I grabbed the cloak from my bed. It was a thicker material than my old cloak. I put on the cloak and made sure my lightsabers were on my hips.
A knock sounded at my door. "Come in!" I called. My door slid open and Kylo walked in. His helmet was now on along with his robes and cloak. "The cloak looks nice on you. Do you like it?" He asks, his voice now sounding robotic. "Yes! I love it! Thank you again!" I nearly squeal. Kylo chuckled slightly. Without warning, I hugged him. I felt Kylo stiffen. Guilt filled me for a minute until I felt him relax and his arms wrapped around me. It felt really nice. Like...I belonged in his arms. I felt something spark and connected. Was this the connection Kylo was talking about? I began to notice the smell of his cologne. It was subtle, but it smelled nice. It didn't smell like the fancy cologne that Hux wore all the time. No...it was something else. It smelt warm and cozy, reminding me of a fireplace in a cabin. I feel Kylo gently rub my back with a gloved hand. I needed this. And from what I can tell, he needed it too.
After a few minutes, we pulled away. Kylo's posture was no longer stiff. Instead, he looked relaxed. "Sorry, I should of—" I went to apologize, still feeling a bit guilty, but Kylo interrupted me. "No. It was...Nice. Only you are allowed to do that. I wouldn't mind if you did it more often..." He whispered, looking at me through his helmet. I imagined his chocolate eyes being soft and maybe filled with love. I guess it's now obvious; I have a crush on him. Kylo raised his hand, perhaps to cup my cheek, but a knock sounded at my door.
"Supreme Leader? Lady K? Your ship to Cabu is ready!" A droid's voice calls from the other side. Kylo's hand dropped and his posture straightened. I longed for his touch again as he opened the door, revealing the droid. "Good. Lady K, are you ready?" Kylo asked, looking back at me. "I'm ready, Lord Ren." I answered. With that, we were off.
On the ship, there were four Storm Troopers, along with a BB-9 unit, which I adored so much. It beeped and squeaked at me. I let out a giggle as I tapped its head. "Why the droid?" Kylo asked as Hux boarded the ship. "The droid has the coordinates to Axel's location." Hux answered. Hux then looked over at me. "She's coming?" He asked. His voice had a bitter edge. Hux didn't like me. I didn't like him. Now, you may be wondering why does Hux hate me? I didn't actually know. But, I assume it's because he's just jealous he's not Kylo's right-hand man. "Watch your tone." Kylo growled, "Yes. She's coming. I want her to learn about getting intel from our spies." Hux rolled his eyes. I began to get slightly upset with him, but I kept my composure pretty well. It was rare for me to burst out in rage.
"Do you have an issue, General?" I asked, my tone giving away that I was slightly irritated. "No. Everything is just peachy." Hux sneers. Kylo clenched his hand closed. I lightly nudge his stomach with my elbow to calm him down. "Get over it. I'm here under Supreme Leader's orders." I boldly say. Hux was shocked and very annoyed when I said that. Kylo shook his head and cut off Hux, who was about to complain again, "Enough. Both of you will get along on this mission. Understand?" Kylo's voice was stern and cold. "Yes, sir." Hux mumbled. Kylo then looked over at me, "Understand?" "Yes, Lord Ren. I'm sorry." I whispered, looking down at my boots. "Good. Let's head out." Kylo orders.
It was a few minutes into flying. I was sitting down with my head resting against the window. I feel someone sit down next to me. I looked over and saw it was Kylo. He wordlessly took off his helmet and sighed deeply. "Sorry." He said. "Huh? Why?" I asked. "I didn't mean to get stern with you. I meant it to Hux. I just...Didn't want to show favoritism." Kylo explains, looking over at me. "It's okay. I understand." I smiled assuredly. Kylo gave me a slight smile. "He really is jealous of you." Kylo stated. "I figured as much." I chuckled slightly.
We fell into a comfortable silence. I felt my eyes grow heavy. I was fighting sleep. I feel Kylo guide my head to his shoulder. "Get some rest. It will be a while before we get to Cabu." Nearly instantly, I fell asleep.
