Jimin was confused. He noticed how the pack was looking at him. It was the same way they looked at each other, as if he was one of them, as if he was their mate, as if they loved him.
But he knew better than that. It was just his delusional heart creating illusions. He had read a lot of romantic fantasy books these weeks. That could be the reason he was being delusional, making him imaging things that will never happen.
A knock on the door put an end to his thoughts. When he opened the door, Namjoon was standing there, fiddling with the hem of his shirt. His usual confident appearance was replaced with nervousness.
"Can I come in, Jiminah?" he asked, smiling gently, the corners of his mouth twitching as if he were holding back a larger grin.
"Of course, hyung." Jimin moved aside for the older to get in, the alpha's cedarwood scent mingling with the familiar, comforting smell of the room. Jimin sat on the bed and gestured for Namjoon to do the same.
"I wanted to, we wanted to talk to you about something. We have been thinking about it for a long time," Namjoon said, with a little hesitation. Jimin could hear the hesitation in the pack alpha's voice.
Jimin can see Namjoon struggling to hold eye contact. What's going on? Are they going to kick him out? Do they hate him now? Had't they told him that everything was okay and they didn't hate him? What happened suddenly? His heart pounded in his chest, each beat echoing his growing dread.
But he couldn't blame them even if they tried to get rid of him. He was a bad person. He had lied to them, hide his identity, made them worry about him, and kissed Taehyung when he already had five mates. He was grateful that they had taken care of him until now, even after he made a lot of mistakes.
His scent turned sour because of his thoughts. Namjoon scrunched up his nose and looked at him with concern, the sudden change in Jimin's scent alarming him.
"Are you okay, Minie?" he asked worriedly. "Don't overthink. Whatever I am going to say isn't that bad. And you have your choice." He continued when Jimin nodded his head. "What I wanted to say is... we-" He paused, trying to collect his words, his fingers playing nervously with a loose thread on his sleeve. "We would like to court you. I wanted to ask you if you are interested. We would like to have you as our mate." Namjoon said in one breath, as if afraid he might lose his courage if he stopped.
Jimin stared at the pack alpha, eyes wide with shock. This wasn't what he expected. They wanted to court him? After the mistakes he had made, they love him? It was all too much to process.
Jimin felt like he was dreaming. He slightly pinched his arm. 'Ouch,' it hurt. That meant he wasn't dreaming. Namjoon was really here, asking him for courtship. And he said they loved him too. His love for them wasn't one-sided. They reciprocate his feelings. They wanted him to be their mate. Jimin could feel his omega dancing in happiness, the joy bubbling up inside him almost too overwhelming to contain.
"All of you?" Jimin asked, his voice barely above a whisper. He needed to be sure, to hear it confirmed. He wanted to know if all of the pack agreed to mate with him. If any one of them didn't want it, he is not going to accept the courtship. He don't want to ruin their relationship, the bond that they shared.
"Huh?" Namjoon looked puzzled for a moment, the question catching him off guard.
"Do all of you want to court me?" he asked again, more clearly this time, his eyes searching Namjoon's for any hint of hesitation or doubt.
"Yes, we all want you as our mate." Namjoon put his hand on Jimin's smaller one, jimin felt calm by the skin contact. "They wanted to come here too but didn't want to overwhelm you," The older added, his voice soft and sincere.
Tears glided down Jimin's cheeks, making Namjoon's eyes widen in alarm. "You don't need to reply right now. You can take your time. We just want you to know that we love you and want you as our mate. I didn't mean to pressure you. Please, don't cry," Namjoon said, panicking as he reached out to wipe Jimin's tears with gentle fingers.
But Jimin couldn't control his tears. They loved him back. All of them. He had never thought something like this would happen, that they would return his feelings. He was happy, really, really happy.
In that moment, all the fears and doubts that had bothered him melted away. He is not alone anymore. He was part of something bigger, something beautiful. And for the first time in a long while, Jimin allowed himself to believe in the possibility of happiness.
