Chapter 3: Leaders

Clarke:

I feel the sun on my face. I breathe in the fresh air as my feet crunch the leaves on the floor. I stumble as I land and firm hands catch me. I look up to see who it is, and see a gorgeous smile looking down at me. It's Bellamy. No, Clarke, he's too much of an ass for you to be into him. No way. I pull myself away from his hold and look at him.

"You okay, Princess?" He asks.

"Fine, thanks." I say sarcastically. He smirks.

"I know we got off to a rough start, but I need someone to help me lead around here. You seem smart enough." He says with a serious but goofy look to him.

"First of all, who said you're going to lead around here? And second, if you want someone to help you, you really shouldn't say you seem smart enough to them." I reply, irritated.

"Well I figured that since everyone is basically scared of me, it would be the best way to go. And..." he paused for a second before making eye contact with me, "I'm sorry. That was a dumb thing to say."

"It's okay," I say softly, smiling a little.

Maybe Bellamy Blake wasn't such an ass after all.

Bellamy:

I don't think I've ever apologized to anyone apart from Octavia when I actually meant it. Wow. Maybe Princess could bring out the best in me. Wait, what are you thinking? Clarke? Really? You could do better Bellamy.

After a while I hear Clarke speaking.

"Sure, I'll lead with you," she says with a small smile.

"Good, well first we need to find some food and water." I say, trying to sound smart.

"I agree. We should send out two groups. One for water and one for food," she instructs sternly.

"I want to lead food, and Octavia can lead water," I reply.

"I'll come with you, and I can get Jasper and Monty to go with Octavia," she says, knowing that I will do everything to keep my sister safe.

"Sounds like a plan, Princess," I smirk at her.

"Where did that name come from?" she asks, scowling at me.

"It suits you, Princess."
