KINZA
It's been a week since Nouman and I started the practice of drawing to communicate with his different personalities. It was helping a lot. We learned how they come out, their fears, and their goals. Except for Nico. He didn’t want to communicate.
Today, I noticed Nouman didn’t come for our practice session. I dialled his phone number, but he didn't pick up. Worried, I walked around the house, looking for him. Then, I saw it. A beautiful red dress with intricate embroidery and a matching dupatta lying on the bed. There was a letter on it. I picked it up and read: “Wear red, and come down, Jaan.”
A smile spread across my face. I quickly got ready, slipping into the red dress. The fabric felt soft and luxurious against my skin. I left my hair open, letting it cascade down my shoulders. I applied a touch of makeup, just enough to highlight my features, and wore a pair of simple earrings. Taking a deep breath, I walked out into the lawn.
The lights were off, and I frowned, wondering what Nouman was up to. Suddenly, the projector turned on. A movie started playing, and I instantly recognized the story. It was our story, with different people acting as us, but the events were the same. Tears welled up in my eyes as I watched.
The movie started with two kids meeting in a dark basement. They were scared but found solace in each other. The small talks, the shared hopes, and dreams kept them alive. It showed how we comforted each other, promising to stay strong.
As the movie played, someone wrapped their arms around me from behind. I knew it was Nouman. He whispered, “Main hoon, Jaan” (I’m here, my love).
I turned around to face him, tears streaming down my face. His eyes were filled with emotion, and I could see the love he had for me.
“Kinza,” he began, his voice soft and sincere, “I’ve loved you since we were kids. When we were trapped in that basement, you were my light in the darkness. You gave me hope when I had none. And now, I love you even more.”
He took a deep breath, gathering his thoughts. “I was never a hero in any story. I was the villain, the destroyer of lives. It doesn’t matter to me that I’m a bad person in anyone’s story, but I want to be the hero in yours. I don’t want to destroy you; I want to protect you from demons. I want to be the right man for you. So, if this is not love, I don’t know what is.”
My heart swelled with emotion. “Nouman,” I whispered, “You have always been my hero. You saved me in that basement. You saved me in more ways than you can imagine.”
He gently wiped away my tears. “Mujhe tumse kuch kehna hai” (I want to tell you something).
I looked into his eyes, urging him to continue.
“Main tumse shuru se pyar karta hoon, aur main chahta hoon ke har lamha tumhare saath bitaun” (I have loved you from the beginning, and I want to spend every moment with you).
His words melted my heart. “Nouman, tumhara pyar meri zindagi ki sabse khoobsurat cheez hai” (Your love is the most beautiful thing in my life).
He smiled, a rare and genuine smile. “Kinza, main tumhare bina kuch bhi nahi hoon” (Kinza, I am nothing without you).
I reached up and touched his face, feeling the warmth of his skin. “Aur main tumhare saath sab kuch hoon” (And with you, I am everything).
He pulled me closer, holding me tightly. “Tum meri duniya ho, Kinza. Tumhare bina, main adhoora hoon” (You are my world, Kinza. Without you, I am incomplete).
