I stare into the mirror. It slowly begins to fog up as the hot water of the shower patters against the glass wall, keeping the water in a contained area. I close my eyes before letting out a sigh. My thoughts run through my mind as tears begin to swell in my eyes. My head falls so as I open my eyes. A tear falls onto the sink. I watch it as it slowly glides from the wall of the sink and down into the drain. I take a deep breath as begin to regain my composure. I glance at myself in the mirror once more before taking off my towel, letting it fall to the ground. I open the glass down of the shower, allowing the steam to pour out and mingle with the air around the bathroom. I step into the shower, the water droplets bouncing off my skin. I stand in the shower, my head facing towards the ground, my fists clenched, my breath breaking as I feel the pure loneliness consume me. The memories of her begin flowing to my mind, them being presented in vividly as if they were happening right before my eyes.

Flashback

I sit on my bed as I think over my upcoming tests. I am pulled out of my thoughts as I hear a knocking on my door. I sigh before standing up, wobbling a bit before regaining my balance. I look at my exhausted expression in the mirror before rubbing my eyes. I make my way to the door before grabbing the doorknob and opening the door.
Woah.
My eyes widen slightly as my jaw drops to the floor. I admired the beautiful woman standing before me. She wore a green knee length dress, and her soft red hair in a ponytail, her freckles scattered across her face and shoulders as her green eyes sparkled like cut emeralds. I stared at her for a few more seconds in disbelief before quickly snapping myself out of my trance.

"Hey, Bella! Come on in!" I welcomed her into my dorm as I open my door fully and move myself to the side, allowing her to step in. Bella has been my best friend since kindergarten. Ever since our sophomore year of high school, I've felt like something was slowly developing, taking over my view of her, but I don't know what it is, and it's still growing even though we are now in college. She is a kind soul; taking care of stray animals, volunteering at shelters and events, tutoring kids. She took a few steps into the dorm room before throwing herself onto my bed.

"So, why are you stopping by?" I make my way over to my bed before sitting beside her, the bed sinking under my weight.

"Well, I was planning on going to a party at the bar down the road, but I didn't want to go alone." She places her hands on her thighs before facing her head towards me. "Would you like to go with me?"

End of flashback

I reach for the knob of the faucet before turning off the shower. I carefully step out of the shower, and grab the towel. I wrap it around myself before exiting the bathroom. I walk over to my closer, and I grab a pair of lounge shorts and a t-shirt. I throw them on, and throw myself onto my bed as my mind races. Different images pop into my head, but she always appears. I lift my head, which was shoved into a pillow, and I look over to the photo of Bella and I thats leaning against my lamp. I stare at the photo with weary eyes. I admire her wide smile in the photo, her red hair flowing in the wind like autumn leaves falling, the way her freckles look like they were painted onto her skin with great precision, the way her emerald eyes gleamed in the sunlight with pure joy . I get caught off guard as I hear a buzzing coming from my phone. I swiftly sit up and grab my phone from the night stand. I look to see an incoming call. It's Bella
