Chapter Six: Welcome To Jurassic World

Holly's POV

I groan as I force my eyelids open, feeling a sticky substance trickling down from my hair. Blood. I got up and immediately felt a sharp pain on my hairline, I wince.

"Ow!" I hear Ben say and Bumpy squeals.

"Is everyone okay?" Darius asks. "Is everyone-?" Yaz says sarcastically, she laughs and opens the van door and slams it shut as she leaves.

"Yaz, wait!" Sammy begs as we all get out of the van.

"Wait! Yasmina!"

I rub my head in pain as I get out, stretching my shoulders.

"We're not okay!" Yaz says walking away from Sammy. "We're in the middle of a jungle with a monster dinosaur out there and you"- Yaz just looks at her with a mix of rage, betrayal and hurt. "You..."

"Destroyed our only way to get help and lied about it!" Brooklynn yelled. "I told you guys!"

"So you did take Brooklynn's phone?" I asked. "Why? What were you doing?" Darius countered.

"Probably trying to erase my video of her taking those samples from the Sinoceratops." Brooklynn said. She suddenly gasped in realization. "And you knew about the Indominus Rex." Brooklynn started to walk towards Sammy. "Because you were snooping around Dr. Wu's office when I ran into you. I knew it!" I looked at her in disbelief, I thought the phone thing was just a prank but now I see this had a deeper meaning, this probably tied in to the rivalry with Wu and other dinosaur companies.

"I didn't mean to destroy your phone. I fell on it when the zipline came down and"- Sammy tried to defend herself but Ben cut her off. "But you did steal the phone?" Bumpy squealed. "You had it that whole time and you didn't tell us?"

"Hold up." I spoke. "What were you doing in Mr. Wu's office, Brooklynn?" Her eyes widened. "I- It doesn't matter, I didn't break our only way to call for help and lie about it!" Brooklynn defended, Sammy covered her ears, looking ashamed as Brooklynn continued. "This is not my fault! This is her fault! She"- Sammy cut her off.

"I'm here to spy." Everyone including Brooklynn went quiet. I realised why she had wanted all those samples and documents, to bring to the other companies! "For a company called Mantah Corp."

"Mantah Corp?" Darius and I said at the same time, everyone else besides Sammy looked confused. "They're a bioengineering company." Darius said. "Big rivals with Masrani." I explained. "They tried to make dinosaurs too, but Mr. Wu beat them to it."

"You doomed us all for some lousy company?!" Ben snapped. "Our ranch was in trouble, so we had to borrow some money from some shady people." She turned her back to us, as if she was embarrassed to be telling us this.

"We didn't know they were fronting for Mantah Corp. They said we'd lose everything unless I'd spied for them." She turned to Yaz, who's features had softened a bit, but still looked upset. "Use the behind the scenes access I get at camp to gather info from Wu's lab." She started walking away. "DNA from dinos, and whatever else they needed." She then walked up to Brooklynn, making her back up. "But then Brooklynn caught on and I got scared and then, everything went wrong." She then ran in front of Yaz, who didn't seem to care. "This is the last thing I wanted to happen."

Yaz smiled sarcastically. "Oh." She scoffs. "To be next to a broken van on Killer Dinosaur Island?" She got in Sammy's face and flashed a fake smile. "Oh hey me too! What are the odds?" I looked around awkwardly, wondering if they should maybe take this somewhere else.

"Yaz, I"- Sammy got cut off. "Was it all lie? Wanting to be friends?" Yaz's voice broke. "Pretending you cared about..." Tears stained Sammy's face.

"You just needed someone to hide what you were doing. Tell me I'm wrong." Sammy just sobbed. "I'm such an idiot." Yaz said as she walked away.
