Cold Winter

Amber....
Amber walked carefully,watching her step.The lava pools were quite cold from what she could feel.People told her it would be too dangerous to even walk a few feet away from one but no,it was cold.She still needed to be careful though,she didn't know what would happen if she fell,would she burn,would she die or would she not feel anything.She looked up at her partner,they weren't friends but strangers,put on a mission together.She could berely see him,just what the lava illuminated,the redish light made him look creepy and the empty pich black void of him on his other side didn't help.She saw him look at her,for only a moment.She could just see his eyes.A forest green with dark brown lines.
They reminded her of a forest she used to go to when she was a small child.The forest was cold even in summer,for where she used to live that was unusual.The smell of fresh morning dew and the mushrooms that ever clumped together or stayed far away stayed with her.
She remembered the last time she went there with her dad,he was chopping wood and she was running around.Her hair danced in the wind,that day she was wearing a white night gown.She was barefoot and felt like nothing could happen to her.Next minute she was at the near by river after telling her papa.
The river rocks were wet from last night's rain but she didn't care.She just hummed as she ran.Then she slipped on a rock,her foot got caught and a loud snap came from that as she fell into the water her leg was yanked free.She panicked she didn't know how to swim and she kicked and clawed at the water.
She didn't know what was happening all she was thinking was..
"I can't die here...mama and papa will be sad"
She had one last gasp of water before she got dragged under.
She got tangled in the river reed as it held her like a monster that had caught its prey.
She let go of some air that was still in her lungs as she was still struggling.
She didn't know why but she started to calm down...
"If I die here then I'm ok with that...all the passing fish can use me as food..."she thought.
Amber now thought it was funny that she thought that...
But then a dark silhouette broke through the water surrounded by bubbles.
It was her Papa,who had realised that she was missing.As he pulled her out from the reeds that reached for her again as if trying to get her back.Once she was out of the water she vomited.and once she was done her papa for the first time hugged her.And he and her cried for a bit before he picked her up to go fix her broken leg.

"Are you ok."A person asked...it was her partner.
"Oh yeah I'm fine!"Amber said quickly trying to make it seem like she wasn't day dreaming.
"Oh good I thought that you had gone because you were so silent."He calmly said.
"Oh...wait"
"Hmmmm"he replied.
"What's your name?"She asked.
"Oh I'm Zee."He said.
