Many years ago having being mentored on state craft, politics and leadership, the old King's health began to deteriorates, leaving Ser Otto Hightower the necessity to govern the realm, along with the heir, Prince Viserys Targaryen.

Since the Hand's daughter arrival at the court of King Jaehaerys I Targaryen. In poignant moments, Alicent would become the constant companion of the Old King, whose health was failing and memories faltering.

Queen Alysanne Targaryen had died on Dragonstone on the first day of the seventh moon in 100 AC, a full century after Aegon's Conquest. She was sixty-four years old.

As the Old King's strength and wits began to fail, he was oft confined to his bed. Ser Otto's precocious daughter Alicent, became his constant companion, fetching His Grace his meals, reading to him, helping him to bathe and dress himself.

The Old King sometimes mistook her for one of his daughters, calling her by their names; near the end, he grew certain she was his daughter Saera Targaryen, returned to him from beyond the narrow sea.

During these years, Aenar became her irrational crush, then her friendship with Princess Rheanyra was ethereal, while the twin Princess Daenerys became her competition. They hated each other's guts.

Eventually, In the year 103 AC King Jaehaerys I Targaryen died in his bed as Lady Alicent was reading to him from Septon Barth's Unnatural History. His Grace was nine-and sixty years of age, and had reigned over the Seven Kingdoms since coming to the Iron Throne at the age of fourteen.

His remains were burned in the Dragonpit, his ashes interred with Good Queen Alysanne's on Dragonstone. All of Westeros mourned. Even in Dorne, where his writ had not extended, men wept and women tore their garments.

Alicent stayed at court, as her father continued to occupy the position as Hand under Jaehaerys' successor, King Viserys I Targaryen.

Already early in the reign of Viserys, Ser Otto and Prince Daemon Targaryen were at odds with each other, and the court fool Mushroom: a three-foot-tall dwarf possessed of an enormous head and, he avers, an even more enormous member, had suggested that the quarrel between the two men began when Daemon deflowered Alicent.

The truths of these tales has never been uncovered. A mere speculation of rumours of thirteen years ago. The Red Keep sees the Hand's daughter as a cultured lady from a noble home, raised with prolific etiquettes, grace and poise.

Presently, Alicent is no more than twenty, described as precocious, clever, smart and lovely, a highly intelligent literate and willful, scheming and firmly ambitious, but also naughty and dirty minded with the visage of pious comely maiden. Flowered.
