Willow sipped at her cup of tea absentmindedly, her thoughts returning to the other night when Harley saved her from the bear. And when he saw her throw up.
At least he didn't suspect anything. He just thought it was the stress of that night. She knew better.Technically, it had been the stress, but that wasn't all of it. And She hoped he never found out what it really was.
"Hey, you feeling okay?" Ruby asked as she entered the kitchen.
"Yep, just getting some tea before I do the stalls."
"Oh, well Harley already did those...So I guess you have some free time."
I widened my eyes in shock. Harley did my chores? "Well, I should probably call my mom, she's still worried about the whole bear thing."
"Whole bear thing!' You were almost eaten alive! And I left you alone, it's all my fault." Ruby sighed.
"It's not your fault Ruby. How were you supposed to know that bear was out there?"
"I don't know! But I still shouldn't have left you alone with Harley. And now he's suspicious of why I left you two together."
"Well what did you tell him?"
She bit her lip and looked everywhere but at Willows eyes. "Well... I couldn't tell him i liked Jay... So I told him I wanted to give you two some alone time."
"What!? Why would you do that! You know he hates me enough as it is, he didn't need another reason."
"He doesn't hate you," she assured me. "He just doesn't want you to turn me into a city slicking diva."
"I am not a diva!" I gasped.
"Of course you aren't, but his last girlfriend totally was."
I gaped at her. "What does that have to do with me?"
"Well she came from Chicago just like you."
I grew red, totally embarrassed. "I still don't see what that has to do with me."
"You're so dense sometimes." She tutted and walked away, leaving me to decipher what she meant.
I sighed and reached for the phone that hung to the kitchen wall, stretching it's cord back to my seat at the table. Dialing my parent's number, I waited for them to answer.
"Hello?" My dad's voice came through the line.
"Dad, It's Willow."
"Hey sweety, what's up?"
"Mom said she wanted Me to call her back today, is she there?"
"No, sorry hon, she just went out with some friends. Do you want me to tell her you called?"
"Sure, just tell her I'm doing fine and she doesn't have anything to worry about."
"Okay, did you take your meds?" He asked worriedly.
"Yes, dad, I took my meds." I said, then hearing the side door open I quickly added, "I gotta go now! Talk to you later, bye!"
"Bye honey, love you."
"You too dad." I hung up and turned around, Harley was standing in the doorway holding an empty glass of lemonade.
"What was that about?" He asked.
"N-nothing." I answered too quickly.
He eyed me suspiciously,
"What meds were you talking about?"Crap, I gotta pay more attention to what I say on the phone. "Uh, for- well that is, my indigestion." I fumbled.
