Yesterday is finally over so I can finally be someone different to who I was. On TV I saw some urban fashion I'm so obsessed with right now so I looked into their style so I want to look and act like them for a day and see where it goes.
I put on some baggy trousers, jumpers and a bucket helmet before running to the stairs. I wanted to slide down the rail but I chickened out and ran downstairs instead, tripping on the last few steps and slid down. That hurt!
I went to the kitchen and saw mum in the kitchen.
"Wassup fam!" I started. Mum waved at me but I slowly cupped her hand into a fist before fist bumping her. "What's the tea?"
"Excuse me?" mum looked confused.
I sighed, "I mean what's the goss?"
"Do you speak English?" mum said sternly. I face palmed before sitting down. Mum slid me a cup and just as I laid a finger on it, I flinched back.
"Ouch! Did you boil the water with your hands?" I yelped in pain.
"And it cured your ability to speak," mum answered.

Name: Ella Sakala
Relation to me: Mum (Parent)
Powers: Elemental - She has the power of using and bending fire, water, electricity, wind and ice.
Advantage: Bills have never been lower with mum's powers
Disadvantage: if she feels a strong emotion, the element that correlates with it and she's unable to control it. She can also get hurt from her powers depending on the temperature.
------------------------------------
"Sorry mum," I apologised as she waved her hands. "Are you able to freeze the water so I can drink?"
Mum hesitantly touched the cup and finches her hands back after five seconds muttering, "I nearly got frostbite. Don't make me overuse that!"
I nodded, "What are we doing today?"
"Remember grandma is coming to visit from Africa so the same rules apply," mum explained as I groaned. She continued ignoring my groan, "Number 1: Don't go into the forbidden room, the mirror room or grandma's room unless she allows you otherwise. Number 3: She's bringing the book over so don't touch. Number 4: Be polite towards her and number 5: don't break anything she possesses as they may be an important artefact. "
"Bet," I agreed but mum stared me down so I corrected myself. "OK!"
"Also Matt wants to go to the park so the one rule is to make sure he doesn't accidentally use his powers," mum added.
"Sure," I said.
At the park, Matt, my younger brother, zooms off while I think of scenarios in my head.
I could walk in with my ripped jeans where all the cool kids hang. My parents home school my brother and I because we could "accidentally leak the fact our family has superpowers and secret agents would be after us" so we have no friends. Actually I have no friends because Matt socialises with someone he has never seen before while I don't feel confident to even go up to someone. I stared at my palm as I sat by a tree. It's been 8yrs since I last used shapeshift and I vowed never to use it again but...
Often I question who I am and I have the power to be whoever and whatever I want to be and a squirrel ran past me and climbed up the tree.
I decided to join so I transformed into a squirrel and climbed up too. When I reached a branch, the same squirrel I saw came up to me.
"You new here?" it asked.
It can talk?! I moved back and screamed and turned back into a human, clutching onto the unstable branch. The squirrel also started to scream into terror and jumped on my face trying to escape but we slipped and I was hanging onto the branch upside down with a squirrel in my face. I screamed as the squirrel screamed in my ear, scratching my face before fleeing.
Matt was playing with his newfound friends and one pointed to me and Matt smiled.
"Hi Kali," he smiled.
"Get me down, get me down," I hyperventilated.
*You know that I can't do that, " he said, signalling towards his friends." How did you get up there in the first place? "
------------------------------------
Name: Matt Sakala
Relation to me: Younger brother
Powers: Super athletics - he has super speed, jump, strength and regeneration so people may call him the ideal Olympics champion for England.
Advantage: he hardly gets tired
Disadvantage: When he runs, jumps, or picks someone up heavy, it accidentally triggers that power.
------------------------------------
"That's none of your concern," I snapped at him. "Get ready to catch me!"
"OK," he agreed and I jumped and he caught me with no complications but after two seconds, he dropped and lied, "You're so heavy."
I knew that he was trying to come out as a normal boy but in the back of my brain, I knew he probably meant to do that on purpose to get even with me for snapping at him. It hurt!
I now had a sore back and a scratched face.
"Thanks," I said as I rubbed my head. "I think."
His friends dragged him away as I sat by the tree. My powers very risky without further training. This is probably the day I finally consult the mirror about my powers. I put this off for far too long.
Dad described talking to the mirror as your reflection that talks right back at you. That's scary and a bit creepy but I want to know more about my magic.
Why do I even bother keeping my powers secret? Like there is some sort of force from preventing it in my subconscience.
Everytime grandma comes around, she has to complain about the fact I have no powers which really annoys me. But is that the reason why I don't say anything about my magic?
Today, the urban fashion Kali is gone and now stealthy Kali has come into the brain.
