Two hours and thirteen minutes later, there was a knock at the door. My heart skipped a beat— it must be Eve. I opened the door and there she was, standing there, looking like a dream.
Eve was about 5'5" or 5'4", with long dirty blonde hair streaked with lighter blonde highlights that seemed to shimmer in the sunlight. Her hazel green eyes, so much like her mom's, sparkled with a mix of excitement and mischief. She had her ears pierced in the most perfect spots, little studs and hoops adorning her ears in a way that made her look effortlessly stylish.
Her figure was to die for—skinny yet perfectly curvy, like an hourglass. She wore layers of gold necklaces that brought out the color in her eyes, each one glinting in the light as she moved. She had on a black washed denim skirt and a black cropped shirt that was slightly faded, adding to her laid-back yet stunning look.
Eve's face was always rosy when she was around me, a blush that her freckles tried to hide but couldn't. If you looked at her as closely as I did, nothing went unseen. Every detail, every expression was a part of her that I was beginning to cherish more than I thought possible.
"Hey, ready to go?" Eve asked, her voice soft and sweet.
"Yeah, everything's set," I replied, trying to keep my voice steady. "You look amazing, by the way."
She smiled, her cheeks turning an even deeper shade of pink. "Thanks, Izzy..." she said as she walked away.
We gathered our things and headed out to the car. My family was already waiting, and as we piled into the vehicle, I couldn't help but steal glances at Eve. The way she interacted with Scarlett and Jenna, her laughter filling the car, made my heart swell with an emotion I didn't dare name just yet.
As we drove to the beach house, I couldn't stop thinking about how Eve had come into my life so unexpectedly and left such a permanent mark on it. This girl who had simply helped move some boxes into my house had become so much more. Eve made me feel seen, understood in a way that no one else ever had. Every moment with Eve was a revelation, a discovery of parts of myself I never knew existed. I felt a connection, a magnetic pull that I couldn't resist, even though it scared me.
As we arrived at the beach house, the sun was beginning to set, casting a golden glow over everything. Eve turned to me, her eyes catching the light in a way that made my breath catch. "This place is beautiful, Izzy," she said, her voice full of awe.
"Yeah," I replied, not taking my eyes off her. "It really is."
In that moment, standing there with Eve by my side, I felt a sense of peace and happiness that I hadn't felt in a long time. And as we headed inside, I knew that whatever happened, being with Eve was exactly where I was supposed to be.
