In Remedial Goodness class, Hestia was close to falling asleep, her head drooping as she struggled to stay awake. The events of yesterday with Evie played on her mind, making it hard to focus. Taking things slow, they said. Easier said than done, Hestia thought, suppressing a yawn.
Hestia sighed softly, trying to shake off the drowsiness and pay attention. She knew she had to stay focused, but her heart was still wrapped up in the memory of Evie's touch. Hestia's eyes grew heavier. Just when she thought she might actually fall asleep, a nudge from Mal startled her back to full consciousness.
"Children, excuse me. Um, as you know, uh, this Sunday is family day here at Auradon Prep. And because your parents can't be here due to, uh, distance, we've arranged for a special treat," Fairy Godmother announced with a smile, walking over to a TV screen to turn it on.
"I don't see anything, nor do I hear," Maleficent's voice echoed through the speakers as the screen flickered to life, showing her large, imposing face.
"Kids!" Fairy Godmother ushered them to come over, waving them closer to the screen. Hestia sighed, feeling a pang of disappointment and uncertainty. She didn't understand why she even bothered to go up, considering her parents weren't there.
The parents of the four VKs struggled, trying to figure out how to turn on the computer screen. Finally, it flickered to life, revealing the familiar faces of their parents.
"Evie, it's Mommy! Oh, look how beautiful you are. Oh, you know what they say, the poison apple doesn't fall far from the tree," the Evil Queen said first, her face lighting up as she saw her daughter. Evie waved at her mom hesitantly, a mix of emotions playing on her face.
"Don't you mean the weeds?" Maleficent interjected with a smirk, her eyes glinting with mischief. "Ooh! Who's the old bat?" Cruella De Vil chimed in, peering at the screen with a critical eye. Hestia covered her mouth, whispering, "Oh my god."
"This is Fairy Godmother," Mal said, trying to maintain some semblance of respect. Fairy Godmother didn't look too happy, her expression tight as she acknowledged the less-than-pleasant greetings from the villainous parents.
"Still doing tricks with eggplants?" Maleficent taunted, and the rest of the villains laughed along with her. "I turned a pumpkin into a beautiful carriage!" Fairy Godmother retorted, trying to maintain her composure despite her growing anger. Mal opened her mouth, surprised to hear Fairy Godmother raise her voice a little.
