Oliver POV
As we walk to the living room where my bodyguard is waiting for us, I pick at my fingernails anxiously from a form of habit that happens when I I'm thinking a lot. Azeil seemed to pick up on this when he peered down at me and gently placed his huge hand on my shoulder.
"Don't be nervous, he's going to take good care of you. I know him very well and I trust him, so don't think about it too much." He said optimistically with a small smile.
If only he knew I wasn't worried one bit about the guard and focused on how I was going to get into his office, steal documents about my grandfather, and attempt an escape all while trying to stay out of the babysitter's eyesight. Azeil greeted the big man wearing an all black uniform with a whole lot of pockets in his black cargos. No doubt filled with all sorts of weapons and gear.
"What's up boss, this must be the little stinker," He greeted me while leaning down slightly and flashing his pearly white smile as his green eyes lit up, "I'm John." I visibly cringe at how white his teeth were and how he called me 'little stinker'. I'm not three for crying out loud. I bet he wouldn't like it much if I called him old funky crip man.
"You probably already know my name, so..." I say uninterested. I felt a harsh pinch on my side given by an annoyed Azeil. His harsh gaze stares down at me while silently saying 'Say something else smart, I dare you'. I hiss out in pain giving a less intimidating look to Azeil.
But to my surprise John just chuckles and waves his hand in a dismissive order. "Don't worry it about it boss, I have a teenager too, she's something else." He gives another deep chuckle, trying to lighten up the mood. I only nod in response not bothering to add on to the conversation anymore .
"Alright, well, I have to leave for work immediately before the firm loses their head," John and Azeil share a chuckle, "Oliver, remembered what I said in the office? Repeat it back to me." He said seriously while leaning down to keep eye level with me. I look to the side and catch John's eyes to see if he is listening in on this embarrassing moment. Inside I was screaming and slapping Azeil in the face, but I knew better. My butt knew better.
I give him one more pleading look before finally succumbing into my mortifying fate. I sigh slowly trying to exhale the last of my pride. "You said not to cause trouble," I say softly, silently praying John didn't hear me.
"And what else?" Azeil pressed on. My brain went searching through our previous conversation but I couldn't remember, as much as I was trying I didn't remember. I shrugged in response when I gave up trying to remember.
"I said that if you give John the slightest bit of trouble, I will come down from my important meeting, and take care of you myself. I promise you if I have to do that you won't be sitting for a month. Is this understood?" He slowly and steadily said making sure I got that firmly in my brain. Nonetheless, I nod in validation.
"I'm sorry, what was that?" Said Azeil
"I understand, sir," I responded while subtly clenching my teeth.
Azeil and John talked a little after while I stood back and watched with a sour look on my face. Pissed off he could make me feel so small and embarrassed without doing much. But on the contrary so loved and protected. Nonsense, he's the man that took you from the only person worth living for, I thought to myself.
Azeil left shortly after there conversation I lost track of, and I was left with John. He was definitely a trained and fit man for sure. The small glimpse of traveling tattoos up his arm makes me think he might be a little bit rough around the edges. Despite him being welcoming to me, I still had no time to sit and talk with him. This is the time I have to get out of here and I can't afford to lose it.
