On today's magnificent episode of what our charming star of the show is up to: We have decided to host a cooking show called Cooking With Love. As the name suggests, our beloved spotlight stealer will be cooking a certain something while also using all the love his fishy heart holds.
Can a body made of sweets be turned into real food? Sure, sweet meat is pretty tasty but that may not be what was implied here. Candy and real food don't truly go together that well as they are almost like the complete opposites of each other. Not complete opposites in the perfect soulmates kind of way but in the they don't get along kind of way.
Alright but who are we actually kidding here? This is Alex's kitchen after all. Who would dare tell him what's right and wrong in the art of cooking. With his awesome skills, anything can be turned into a Michelin star dish. At least, let's think that's the case.
First part of cooking any kind of meat is to oil the pan used for the cooking part of it. Without it, it's more likely that the dish will burn and stick to the pan which is not wanted. What better ingredient for this job than a whole stick of butter. Alex loves butter after all. Sometimes the layer of butter may be thicker than the actual bread when he's the one preparing it. This is exactly why he is the perfect candidate for this job.
Then to cook the meat. Fortunately, Alex was actually smart enough to prepare it beforehand because otherwise it would cause us quite a big set back. Picking up the strands of meat from the bowl he used for storing it, he felt a sense of happiness. Perhaps the sense of succeeding in something related to meat was relieving. It was quite the task to scrape off the meat from the bones and then separately cut off all the fat parts. Not like there was much fat to begin with but there was even less meat. In reality, this meal would only be enough for one. Just when Alex thought he could host a dinner party.
The sizzling of the meat and the strong smell of the basically burned butter made Alex feel quite a lot of things. The feeling of truly being a masterchef overruled him. When cooking something on a pan, Alex's favorite thing would be to weigh the ingredients down onto the pan with his trusty spatula. Spatulas were most likely his favorite kitchen utensils ever.
To be honest, he felt like the meat was gonna burn onto the surface of the pan. Perhaps adding a bit more butter could help. It would add to the taste too if you thought about it. There can never be too much butter.
After poking around at the strands of meat for a bit, came one of the most satisfying parts of cooking. Adding the spice. Alex didn't use that many spices usually as they mostly consisted of pepper, salt and curry. Since he didn't know any better, he would add all of these to an amount that felt the best depending on what his nose told him. I mean of course he knows what he is doing as he is almost the best chef in the world since cooking has most definitely been his passion for his whole life.
Even though the steak was almost drowning in the brown liquid that was once butter, it seemed a bit too dry. Maybe this was due to the salt he added since salt is known for absorbing liquids. Then the third stick of butter was added to the soup that was the delicious masterpiece Alex was making. He wasn't scared that he would run out of butter either since he still had 5 whole sticks left.
More poking and fiddling around with the spatula eventually led up to the meat being ready. He used some random kitchen knife that looked decent enough to cut the strands in half to make sure it was actually cooked. They are supposed to be pinkish after all. Grabbing a hold of the handle of the pan as he dropped the strands onto a plate and covered it with tin foil as that should keep it warm enough until the rest of the delicacy is made.
Alex had actually not even thought about what he would eat this divine work of art with as eating it alone would feel disrespectful. Not that it wouldn't be good enough as is but it felt like more devotion should be put into this once in a lifetime experience. You won't always be able to eat something so filled with love.
His mind was kept empty until something lit up. Noodles. As a child, Alex remembers being given noodles that had some sort of meat in it as a topping and it was like the best thing to exist. Although combining the goddess of simple food with something as complicated as this felt like the evilest crime ever, he figured it could also be a very fitting idea. Alex held noodles very close to his heart due to this meal's source material after all.
It would only take a mere 10 minutes to finish up the noodles as boiling the water didn't take too long and in that time he had also managed to prepare the actual noodles. Pouring the hot water onto the wiggly yellow strands as the water turned an odd shade of brown due to the spices given with the pack of noodles. He carefully placed a plate on top of the deeper plate that held his noodles so the yummy snack could cook in there by itself for the remaining time.
While waiting for the noodles to be ready, Alex did some extra stuff with the magical thing he had cooked earlier. He thought that if the strands were in tinier pieces, then it could be easier to eat them with the other food he had prepared. At this point, he didn't really bother to keep his hands clean as they had already gotten dirty with everything else. He would never say no to getting his hands dirty for the sake of his love after all. Kinda surprising that Alex hasn't horribly exploded due to there being external beings on his skin.
"Wormy once told me that your mother bought you from the flower store as seeds and then planted you in her backyard. Did she feed candy to you so you'd grow to be all big and strong too?" Alex wondered aloud while staring at the beautiful mess he had created.
As far back as Alex can see, everything he has been taught has been by Wormy. In this case, everything Wormy says must be true? Wormy has always been the wise and knowledgeable god Alex has known.
He could still remember the day when Wormy introduced him to Gubul. It was certainly a magical day. That was the day his mind had been brought into this world. A lovely day that would set his destiny and purpose in what he had to do in this world.
"Mother told me that sweets are bad for you but just look at you! I guess she just didn't want me to become a goddess like you," Alex continued with his thoughts.
'Oh but you are as much of a god as I am,' Gubul would have said. 'We may be polar opposites of each other yet that's what makes us equal'.
And now here Alex was, sitting at the table, eating whatever he had just created. Now they could truly be together forever and there would be nothing to stop them. The one time Alex was to cook, he really did it with love.
The same flesh that he could still feel all across his body. The same flesh that he had been planning to devour for as long as he can remember. The same flesh that he was made to worship. The same as what has always been.
Every piece he chewed off was like a reminder of why his mind was built. A reminder of the ritual that was whatever this humanly emotion that circulated around him and his destiny. All of the devotion he had given for this seemed to be melting into one as the sacred presence lingered around him.
No ordinary folk could ever even grasp the feelings that Alex held. He doubted that anyone else other than him had even experienced true love. In his eyes, what the others had described as love seemed to just be a mix of lust and boredom. The need to melt into what was set to be was controlling them. Luckily, Alex had awakened.
"Do you think anyone else could taste what I do in this? Or would their brains only be filled with butter?" Alex said.
He glanced over at the seat next to him. It was empty as expected. On the table was a tiny box on top of a plate that had the word 'treasure' written on it. It was a very precious box. A box that served the same purpose as the dish that was nearly consumed by now but only if it was for Gubul.
"Don't eat too quickly or you'll feel sick again", Alex warned.
