Third person pov

Seungmin got pushed by people when the gates opened, Hyunjin right in front of him. Seungmin was annoyed and hated the crowd, somehow Hyunjin managed to convince Seungmin to come to the carnival with him just like every year before this one, since nobody else was "available" and usually they could not keep up with Hyunjin's craziness like Seungmin can. "We're next up, can't believe we've never been on this ride before." Hyunjin said excitedly.

"That's because you always want to play games in the arcade beside the carnival each year." Seungmin sighed. The gates opened once again, Seungmin and Hyunjin were quite tall, so they could see over most people's heads. Seungmin's heart started pounding when he saw Haneul get on the ride, immediately he pulled Hyunjin towards the ride.

"Seungmin what are you doing..?" Hyunjin's voice quieted down when he saw the two girls. "Let's go on a different-" The gate closed now they were stuck, Seungmin stood there and Haneul stared at him, the atmosphere was awkward.

"Oh Hwang Hyunjin and..." Haneul stared at Seungmin, she didn't know his name. "Kim Seungmin." Jeongyeon sighed.

"The town is a pretty small place, haha. You guys came to the carnival too..." Hyunjin awkwardly laughed and sat beside Jeongyeon, heck would he ever sit beside Xu Haneul. "You guys had to really come on the same ride?" Jeongyeon clicked her tongue. Haneul was still staring at Seungmin, she is sure she's seen him before, and oddly he was still standing and staring at her, she felt her face heating up for some reason.

"Why don't you come and sit- '' The ride started and Seungmin fell towards Haneul, while the other two were gripping on the bars for life. Haneul grabbed onto his arm and pulled him towards the seat. "I got you!" she yelled, since the wind was making it hard to hear anything. Her eyes closed and both of her hands were occupied, her right hand holding onto Seungmin's arm, and left hand onto the bar behind her.

Haneul's heart was beating fast, she was so close to a complete stranger who was friends with her sports rival, Hwang Hyunjin.

Haneul heard some screaming when the ride started spinning, she was worried that it was Jeongyeon, "Jeongyeon, are you okay!" Haneul's eyes didn't open due to her hair in her face, she tried shaking her head, Haneul felt her hair being tucked behind her ears, she opened her eyes and saw Seungmin, she bowed her head and thanked him silently. Her heart was beating faster than before but she heard the screaming again and looked over at Jeongyeon's side.

It was Hyunjin screaming and holding onto Jeongyeon's arm, Haneul laughed when she saw her best friend rolling her eyes and trying to stay up on her seat. 'Never again' Jeongyeon mouthed to Haneul, she heard Seungmin chuckle and looked at him, "I think they both don't like the ride." He said looking at Haneul.

"Yeah." Haneul couldn't speak, usually she would start talking to random people like she's known them for years, but this person was oddly different. She let go of his arm because of how close they were, but he fell back so she held onto it again, they were very close to each other and in an awkward place too. Haneul could feel Jeongyeon's cold gaze, "Ah I'm sorry!" Haneul yelled, moving back but still holding onto his arm.

After a few minutes the ride ended, the few minutes felt like hours for all four of them and all different reasons. They got out of the ride and Jeongyeon immediately started fixing Haneul's hair. Hyunjin looked like a monkey ripped out his hair, "I'm never going on that ride ever again." He said breathing heavily and putting his hand on his chest.

"Never going on that ride with any of you at all." Jeongyeon sighed and patted Haneul's head. "Thanks," Haneul whispered. "So are you guys going on any other rides?" Seungmin asked, he looked at Haneul and asked. "Oh- yeah, we're here for quite a bit."

"But we're going to be far away from the both of you." Jeongyeon glared at Seungmin, while Hyunjin and Haneul side eyed each other. The four of them parted ways, but every 5 minutes they would bump into each other, at game stations, food trucks. Haneul was having enough of this, "Why don't we just... hang out together." Haneul cringed internally at her words but surprisingly it ended up working.

"Hani-ah why" Jeongyeon asked, "We keep bumping into each other so why not." Haneul gave her a cheeky smile, she looked at Hyunjin for a response, "I agree with Hani." Seungmin said, making them snap their heads to him. "What did you say..?" Jeongyeon said moving in front of Seungmin, "I just said I agree with Hani-" Seungmin said, confused.

People were starting to stop and stare, Haneul smiled nervously and Hyunjn did the same and grabbed Seungmin by the shoulders and laughed, "Ha ha you guys are so funny, always practicing for the school play." Haneul hit Jeongyeon's shoulder and locked her arm with her. "Yah Hyunjin-ah let's go play that shooting game!" Haneul nervously laughed and patted his back.

Hyunjin pulled Seungmin, while Haneul pulled Jeongyeon, "Why would you call her that?!" Hyunjin mumbled under his smile and looked ahead. Seungmin looked at him confused, "Said what? Her name?"

"That's her nickname, her full name is Haneul, remember?" Hyunjin looked over at Seungmin, and so the realization hit him, and why Hyunjin was sitting far from her earlier. "So that's the girl you were talking about?" Seungmin looked at Hyunjin, nodding to his question. They were quiet so the girls didn't hear them.

"Oh, Jeongyeon, your favorite game!" Haneul smiled and pulled her to the game stall, it was a shooting game. The other two followed behind them, "Oh, Seungmin, isn't this your favorite game too?" Hyunjin asked. This was going to be the craziest carnival these four have probably attended, and there were the two academic rivals, holding up the toy guns filled with balls to pop the balloons. Facing each other intensely then lifting their guns up to their shoulders.

Hyunjin and Haneul just stared at each other knowing this is just getting started, "This was a bad idea." Hyunjin said. "First time we both agree on something." Haneul said, sighing.

"I won again." Seungmin said after winning twice in a row, Jeongyeon sighed and put the toy gun down, "Lets go to the hamster game, you will not have a chance of winning there at all." Jeongyeon said with a sly smile. Without even looking back at the other two they hurry to the other games, win after win, lose after lose, these two were going insane and completely forgetting about the other two.

Haneul sighed and followed behind them, "This is making me crazy, they keep running off to the other games." Hyunjin said annoyed, Haneul stops and lets them go ahead, "This is making me hungry." Haneul's stomach growled, Hyunjin's growled even louder.

They both stand holding their stomach and slowly start smirking, "Let's see who can eat the spiciest ramen noodles without reaction." Hyunjin initiated the idea and put his hand out, Haneul shook his hand "Deal, loser has to buy ice cream for everyone."

This was just getting started, who knows what their youth has ahead of them...
