Waking up in the morning, you can't ignore the emptiness of the motel bed or the gnawing hunger in your stomach. You groan, rubbing your eyes before sitting up on the edge of the bed.
After a minute of contemplating if food is worth facing the outside world, you grab your wallet from the nightstand and shuffle to the door. You slide your shoes on without bothering to lace them up.
Approaching the vending machine, you notice Sam had the same idea as you.
"Good morning," you greet him.
Sam retrieves his food from the vending machine and turns to face you, a smile spreading across his face as he sees it's you.
"Hey! Morning! I'm glad you're up, I was thinking we could head to the hospital soon. Dean should probably be discharged today."
"Yeah, about that...I was thinking about staying behind this morning. I left things with Cas on bad terms and was hoping I could get him here so I could apologize," you explain apologetically as you insert a five-dollar bill into the vending machine.
"Oh, okay. No problem. You'll come after you've talked, right?" Sam's immediate understanding eases your worries.
"Of course. If we're not done talking things out by the time Dean's discharged, please come save me," you joke with a smile.
"Will do," Sam responds.
He waits until you've finished using the vending machine before saying his goodbyes. The two of you then go your separate ways.
Once back in the privacy of your motel room, you quickly scarf down the slice of banana bread and granola bar you bought from the vending machine.
With food in your stomach, you can finally think straight. You decide it's time to try calling Castiel again.
"Hey Cas. I completely understand if you're still upset and need time, but I really want to apologize. Let me make this right?" You plead into the empty room.
Expecting nothing to happen, you're surprised when Castiel appears in front of you.
"Hey," you start, but you're quickly cut off by his sweet lips on yours.
You want nothing more than for things to be right and to get lost in kissing him, but you know you have to apologize. Reluctantly, you pull back from the kiss.
"As much as I liked that, what's going on, Cas? I hurt you yesterday."
"I have decided that if I am going to disobey, I wish for my first act of disobedience to be with you," he explains.
"I don't know if I should feel honoured or offended by that. But seriously, what are you talking about? Don't you want me to apologize?" You ask, skeptical of Castiel's supposed nonchalance over what happened yesterday.
"There is no need. I should have talked to you before involving Dean in Uriel's plan. The truth is, I thought the orders were coming from God, but they weren't. Uriel was the one who killed our brothers and sisters."
Grabbing his hands in yours, you walk over to the bed and sit down.
"That's big stuff, Cas. Are you sure you don't want to talk about it? Just because the orders weren't from God doesn't mean I had any right to throw your doubt in your face."
Castiel looks in your eyes, his expression softening, and it makes your stomach flutter. "I understand that you were upset. But right now, I want you to know that I trust you, and I want to move forward together."
You squeeze his hands, feeling a sense of relief wash over you. "Okay. So, what were you thinking for your first act of disobedience? I'll help you with whatever it is."
