" Let's watch that one movie, " Liam suggests.

You lean on the balcony railing, watching as the people downstairs set up the outdoor table. " Which one? " you ask, your eyes following their movements.

" Inside Me, " Liam responds.

" Huh, " you muse, puzzled.

Liam looks at you, confused. " Inside Me, the movie, "  he repeats.

" What the fuck- " you pause, giggling, " you mean Inside Out? "

" Oh, " Liam realizes, his face flushing. " Shit, that was bad. "

" Who lied to you? " you chuckle. Liam leans on the railing next to you, looking down at the bustling scene below. " Crazy, huh? " he comments.

You nod, " Yeah. "

What Kenji needed from you was company; he wanted you to be his plus one to a dinner party-actually, plus two. He was so desperate to fill up both of the seats next to him that he even invited Mina. Kumo was left in his father's care.

The fact that Kenji forced himself to attend this surprised you, but nothing could've prepared you for the revelation that the person Liam was about to go on a blind date with was Rossi. You know you kind of insulted him for wanting to bail in the first place, but now you regret it, realizing that your words probably fueled his determination to attend anyway.

" Do you want to head downstairs now? " Liam asks, his eyes following the maids as they place the plates and name cards.

" Yeah, I guess we should, " you reply. You and Liam walk side by side down the stairs. You're not wearing anything special, just the same clothes you had on this morning. You never got the chance to change, nor did you want to put in the effort to look decent for this party. Kenji's words made it clear that you're just here out of compliance.

The cold breeze slaps your face as you step outside. Your heels sink slightly into the dirt, making the walk to the table uncomfortable. You sit down across from Liam.

" What do you think they're going to serve? " Liam asks, as if it isn't the hostess' decision.

You shrug, grinning. " I don't care, as long as it's free. "

Soon enough, Kenji, Mina, and Rossi emerge from the restaurant, making their way to the backyard table where you and Liam are seated. The warm glow of the setting sun casts a golden hue over everything, but a slight evening chill is starting to creep in, making you shiver slightly.

Your eyes light up as you notice Kenji dressed in a sharp, tailored suit, though his discomfort is evident. His movements are stiff, and he keeps tugging at his collar, clearly eager to get out of the formal wear. And you were sure that Rossi would be happy to help. Rossi, on the other hand, looks stunning in a sleek, black dress that hugs her figure. Her high heels click confidently on the stone path, and she seems entirely at ease. Mina is floating beside them with calm grace, a soft hum emitting from her.
