" Yeah, no- I know, " you begin, squeezing your phone between your cheek and shoulder, trying to balance the conversation while feeling a bit flustered. " I checked my call logs, apparently you called me four times. "
" Yeah, four times, " Liam replies, his voice a mix of impatience and concern. " You picked up once and missed the other three. "
" What did you hear when you called me the first time? " you ask, genuinely curious about what you might have missed.
" Okay, before I answer that, where are you having this call right now? " Liam's voice carries a hint of disbelief.
You pause, feeling a bit embarrassed. " On the toilet. "
...
" Gross! "
" —I'm sorry! "

" Someone's going to visit the house today? " you ask Kenji, your curiosity piqued.
" She's an old friend of mine, " Kenji explains, walking to the coffee maker. His hair is still tousled from sleep, sticking up in various directions, and he's wearing a wrinkled t-shirt and pajama pants. The morning light filters through the kitchen window, casting a warm glow on the sleek countertops. " She's here for an interview. " He shoots you a smile.
" To interview you, actually, " he adds, pouring himself a cup of coffee.
" Me? " you ask, confused. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee fills the air, mingling with the faint scent of the flowers in the living room. Your own appearance isn't much better; your hair is slightly disheveled, and you're still in your pajamas—a faded t-shirt and a pair of old, comfortable jorts. In this household, between a celebrity and a housekeeper, why would you be deemed interesting enough for an interview? Kenji's right there, a celebrity, the obvious choice.
" Yeah, " Kenji confirms, nodding, his expression serious now. " You. "
You tilt your head, your mind racing. " But why? What do I have to offer in an interview? " you ask, genuinely puzzled.
