"Did you get bitten?"
"Yeah are you infected?"
A series of similar questions were thrown at me and they demanded answers. They moved closer and closer, their hands getting a little too personal to the trigger for my liking. My brain was getting exhausted from trying to assure these idiots that I didn't carry the virus.
Wait. Virus? Bitchy teenage girl? Crap
I sighed and let down my hands. "I don't want to get Tacos tonight and I don't hate everyone." I pointed weakly at Aisling. "And neither does he."
They whispered amongst themselves for a few minutes before facing both of us. "We believe you." The man who I assumed to be the leader cued someone up on the roof, and just then Aisling was let out of the net and fell to the ground with a harsh thud.
The men started to dissipate but one stayed, probably to provide us with weapons and axes and stuff. We followed him into what used to be a thrift store but was now loaded with anything that could cause damage to the body.
Aisling picked up a butcher that was hanging on one of the wires. "Mind sharing the sudden info."
I shrugged. "No not really."
He kicked me in the shin and I yelled in pain, raising my knee and clutching my poor brutalized shin. "Tell me or the next one is in your groin."
I flipped him off with my right hand and continued cradling my shin. "It's a zombie acoplyse movie inspired by my big sister."
"Okay. I know big sisters are monsters but I don't see how that translates to literal zombies."
The guide from earlier came back and held up a finger, telling us to shut the heck up. "I was watching a zombie movie and she came barging in demanding tacos like a little bitch." I looked at the burnt car that was moving down the street slowly. "And I thought she looked a lot like a zombie"
I got up and started to move closer to the glass while staying hidden. "Plus when I asked what was wrong, she said and I quote 'I'm on my fucking period.' "
I peered through the glass at the car that was burning brightly and closed my eyes. Why did this car seem so important.
"And you assumed 'period' was a virus? Didn't you have Sex Ed?"
I scoffed and opened the door. "Bold of you to assume I actually listened."
I walked across the road to the burning car, with Aisling close behind me. I turned around, looking at the surrounding building that now looked like ghost mansions.
"Creepy. I'm going back in." Aisling said and jogged back into the store. I stared at the car closely. What did a burning car mean?
Shittttttttt.
"AISLINGGGG!!!"
He ran back out looking like he went pale twice in two minutes. "The guy isn't there anymore."
We backed each other circling ourselves as the feeling of being watched became even more prominent. "Whenever I snitched my sister out and she was grounded, she would burn one of my toy cars and leave them on the corridor."
Aisling craned his neck back and looked at me with pure shock on his face. "There are so many questions. But first off," He's expression changed to one of seriousness. "Did your sister get the therapy she needed?"
I punched him lightly and rolled my eyes. "It was a calling card. A warning that she would get her revenge."
"Hhmmmm, the beginning of her villain arc." He said nodding.
I laughed at that little. "So you aren't a living relic of the 60's."
He stomped on my foot and I laughed even harder despite the fact that my big toe was throbbing with pain. "We gotta hide though." I said admist laughs.
"Where?"
"At cure duh."
I looked up at him to see him looking at him with 'where-is-the-cure-you-idiot?' eyes.
I dragged him and started dashing down the street. "The nearest Taco store of course."
